JANUARY MEETING MINUTES President Gene Bossaller called the January 2018 Archway Olds Meeting to order 7:17 pm at the Sports Café in Bridgeton, January 9th, 2018. Happy Birthday to the Archway Oldsmobile Club. We are 43 years old in 2018. No guests, new or old, were present at the meeting, nor any new acquisitions noted. OLD BUSINESS The club thanks Gerald Burns for doing the calendars. They are a very cool thing for the members. The Christmas Brunch at Andres South went very well thanks to Gerry and Ed Davis and Don Oehlert. Thanks to all the members who attended to make it a successful event for us. Don Oehlert suggested we start now to reserve a place for 2018. Andres West was discussed briefly as a possibility to go back to. NEW BUSINESS Thanks to Ed and Gerry Davis for updating and printing a new club roster in larger print. The club is a little late on getting 2018 membership renewals, so please get your 2018 membership dues in as soon as possible. OCA dues have increased by $10 to $50 of one year, $90 for 2 years. OCA usually sends you a post card. Kevin Beutelman will reserve the Faust Park Pavilion as soon as it is available to be reserved for the club picnic to be held on Sunday October 14th, 2018. February 2018 President’s Message Good Day All, hope everyone is doing well and healthy. So many illnesses are all around us so I hope you have missed this flu and colds are passed the illness. Please take care of your health we need you all. Please send in your 2018 Archway Oldsmobile Club dues if you have not done so yet. Gerry and Ed have made the 2018 Club roster if you need one please let me know and I will get to you. Most members have been emailed this new roster in early January. The club at this time is organizing who gets each monthly newsletter by email or by postal service. We have sent around at the last meeting the newest roster and those who wish to have the postal service mail you the newsletter circle your name and that was done and we got your message. Others have contacted our treasurer to let him know they wanted mailed. One more time if you do not attend our meeting and want the club to have the postal service mail your monthly newsletter let one of the club officers know this and we will do what you wish. If we don't hear from you we will email directly to you. Thank you for your effort with this issue. At the last meeting the club chose three charities to donate moneys to. The membership have chosen for this year to donate to Shelter Friends of the City of St. Charles an animal rescue shelter, no kill, also Camp Callahan Inc in Quincy, a camping area for young with disabilities, and lastly the R.E. Oldsmobile Museum again. Thank you for your kindness. Just a suggestion if you wish to donate to another charity we can attend the Wheels in Motion event held every September and the registration fees goes to the Children's cancer Society that day. As a club we can attend together and have a fun event together and also donate to charity at the same time. This is something to think about for a club event this summer. If you are a member of our parent club Oldsmobile Club of America there is a elections coming soon to elect OCA officers please take the time to vote. Your vote counts folks. LAST CALL, Classic Car Trivia Night February 17th at the Moolah Center. We passed around a signup sheet at least meeting. If you signed that list and you are attending **** Bring your $20.00 for each attending to the next meeting, and give your money to Don Oehlert and you are officially included. The club so far is reserving two tables for members who have paid previously. Don will then mail in a check to the event organizers. President’s message continued next page

February 2018 President’s Message continued from previous page

Just a couple of weeks ago the car auctions were happening and a few members attended. If they are present at the next meeting maybe we can get an update of the excitement of these large car auctions. Horseless Carriage Club has mailed me a letter inviting our club to attend the 56th annual Easter Concourse d'Elegance event in Forest Park on Easter Sunday April 1st. It's early this year. Annual we have about 10 members that display their Oldsmobile at this car event each year with others attending without a car. We will discuss and pass around a signup sheet. Please consider attending this huge car event. I have been communicating with Herb Clark part of the Cars and Guitars Route 66 Festival 2018 in Kirkwood. I let the board know that the Archway Oldsmobile Club would be interested with more spaces as last year and same location at the top of the hill. I will keep in touch with that board. I believe last year those who attended had a good time and we all sat together and had dinner which was a fun evening. Lets do this again. More to follow. We passed around a licence plate sheet for members who wish to purchase a club license plate. So far we have 13 who wish to own a club plate. If you wish to be included call me or email me and I can add you to this list before we proceed and place this order. I have contacted our person at the Museum of Transportation about our 2018 Fun Show date and I received a reply back that the museum wishes for us to reserve the fourth Sunday in September as there are five this year. They asked if we can reserve the fourth Sunday as the fourth weekend is the National Museum Days and they wish to have activities that weekend and we can be a part of those activities with our annual Fun Show. Think about your thoughts on this and I will discuss at the next club meeting to make a date decision. Just a second thought if the club decides on the fourth Sunday for our Fun Show then there is a two weeks separation between our car event and The Gathering Car Show in Cartersville Georgia. Would the club members be interested in attending something new this year and travel as a group to " The Gathering"? See the story in the January JWO page 10 for more information. Would the club members be interested in new horizons? Lets discuss. Jon Mueller won the 50/50 last month and then gave the money back to the club. Thank you Jon. That's all for now folks. Please take care of yourselves and see you Tuesday February 13th. Gene

MEMBER ANNIVERSARIES

JANUARY MEETING MINUTES (CONT. FROM PAGE 1) President Bossaller would like to email the monthly newsletter to save the club money. A club roster was passed around for members to circle their name if they want to continue to have the newsletter mailed via USPS. A sign-up sheet was passed around for those interested in an Archway Olds Club license plate. They are $15 if we get 10, but if we get 15, the price is $13 each. The Annual Classic Car Trivia Night is Saturday February 17th at 7pm that benefits Children with Cancer. Last year, the Archway Olds Club had two tables and did well. A sign-up sheet was passed around. You must get payment to Don Oehlert by the February meeting. Discussion was opened concerning who the Archway Olds Club would like to donate money to. After some discussion, Don Oehlert made a motion to donate to the REO Museum. Charlie Hutchinson 2nd motion. Motion passed. Additional discussion was held for donating to 2 other charities. Barb Knudsen made the motion that the club donate to Friends of St. Charles Animal Shelter and to Camp Callahan in Quincy, IL. Fred Hutchinson 2nd the motion. Motion passed. President Gene Bossaller has some extra rooms reserved at the Wyndham host hotel in Gettysburg at the 2018 OCA Nationals. Let Gene know if you need a room or know of anyone who needs a room. He needs to release them. The OCA is about 5,400 members and growing. David North, the Designer of the Toronado is now a member. John Perkins, the designer of the Cutlass is also a member now. Gerald Burns is now the official photographer of the OCA. Many great things, like the JWO, is helping the OCA grow. The JWO Magazine has put us into the tops with other major car clubs achieving Golden Quill awards every year since 2014! Thanks to Shannon Olson for the great work! Watch for the OCA officers and Zone Directors nominations in the next JWO. The club is seeking Club Events for 2018. If anyone has an idea, please let President Bossaller know and it will be looked into. Hosting a picnic at your home or park to have an enjoyable afternoon together is an idea. Nothing was mentioned for sale. President Bossaller is looking for a 350 Aluminum intake manifold. Continued on page 5
