JSS PS RAMADAN CHARITY INITIATIVE

As part of the JSS PS Happiness Initiatives – Beyond Boundaries -

Share a Smile Campaign, the members of the Hope & Happiness

Committee initiated a charity initiative during the Holy month of

Ramadan. It was carried out from grade 1-12. The initiative was started

on 6th

June 2016 and was successfully completed on 13th

June 2016 .

The money collected was used to buy a 1000 kg of rice (That’s a

LOT!!!).

Packed bags of rice were distributed to labourers in the Golden Sands

area of Bur Dubai on Thursday 16.06.16. Caps were also collected as

part of the initiative and was distributed to the labourers by 50 students –

from Primary, Middle and Secondary school . The distribution was

carried at 3 construction sites within the vicinity. Namely, the Al

Ghurair Properties, the Al Ahmadiah Mankhool Project and the

BurJuman Centre.

It was an enlightening and joyful experience for both the students and

the teachers. The challenges the workers faced to build something that

they weren’t going to own or live in was something we have to

appreciate. The smile on their tired faces when the rice and the caps

were given to them by the students just lit up our day. (I won’t deny we

had fun in the travelling too!) We look forward to more such

oppurtunities. After this, I don’t think any of us would be complaining

that it is too hot in class!
