The basics
The JCR is journal intelligence that distills citation data sourced from the Web of Science Core Collection to help you understand journal performance over time with true transparency into what makes a journal influential and valuable.
• View Journal Impact Factor and other metrics.
• Data represents a snapshot in time: the 2019 edition reflects citations from literature published in 2018.
• All journals in JCR are sourced from two indexes:
Science Citation Index Expanded
Social Sciences Citation Index
• JCR distills citation trend data for over 11,800 journals from more than 25 million cited references indexed every year
• Citations are sourced from all indexes in the Core Collection.

What’s new?
In 2018, we introduced a new and redesigned journal profile page Data transparency and Journal Intelligence
Additional metrics and contextual information will deliver insights and value beyond the JIF, thus allowing for a more responsible and confident use of JCR.
Validate the calculation of the JIF and provide a clearer understanding of the quality of the articles and the relationship between the article and the journal
Identify relative contribution of different document types to JIF; See number/type of items that disproportionately drive JIF value
Better understand content, regions, and institutions that make a journal influential and view the citation landscape of a journal
