Financial Assistance Opportunities Available! The Recreation Department provides discretionary funding for program and

pool scholarships. Interested individuals must register at least ONE WEEK

prior to a program’s indicated deadline, must present any current income

statements, and will be issued on a first come/first serve basis.

First Day of Summer Registration: April 1! Program Registration:

Participants must pre-register for all programs.

No one will be permitted to register at the

program site.

Two Prices?

Residents of the Borough of Chambersburg receive a discount on programs. Non-residents are persons who live

anywhere outside of Chambersburg Borough limits. Activity Cancellations

Program Information:

• Age Requirements - A participant must be

the indicated age by the start of the program. All

age requirements are set to benefit the partici-

pant and make instruction more consistent for

the program leader. In some instances, the

requirements have been set for the participant’s

safety.

Injury

Participation in our programs and leagues is at

your own risk. We advise participants to carry

their own accident/liability insurance.

Pre-School Opportunities

Messy Munchkins

This art exploration camp, for children 4-5 years of age, provides a fun opportunity for participants to learn a variety of different art mediums, create many diverse projects, and proudly display their work at the week's end "art show!" Sporties for Shorties

This exciting sport and games opportunity, designed for children 3 years of age, intro-duces the basics of soccer, basketball and tee-ball through a series of fun, lead-up games and activity stations. Small-Fri Tri (Pre-school Triathlon) Calling all pre-schoolers who like to run, ride their bike or tricycle, and run through sprinklers to join us for our 2nd annual Small-Fri Tri! Participants will ride their bicycle or tricycle a short distance, run approxi-mately 100 meters, and then cool-down during the last-leg of the race by sprinting through the Chambersburg Fire Department’s “sprinklers”! All participants receive a medal and prize bag! Location - Memorial Park near the pool entrance.

Picture Perfect

Inviting all kids wanting to become snap-shot savvy to our summer, photography camp! Participants will learn how to operate their camera settings, work with lighting and learn to shoot a variety of dif-ferent types of photos. Some concepts include: portraits, nature scenes, movement and macro (close-up photography).

Participants must bring their own digital camera, preferably one with manual setting. The first class meets at the Rec. Center and subsequent days may meet at other local, designated locations.

Culminate the week with an art showing of your favorite photos!

Skateboarding and Biking Opportunities

Skateboarding Clinics

Beginners, if you're interested in learning basic skills, improving existing abilities, or how to properly use the skate park obstacles, join us for one of our skateboarding clinics! An introduction to longboarding will also be taught. (These boards will be provided for practice use during class.) Held at skate park located inside Municipal Pool. Following the July class, cool off during a free-swim in the pool. (If you do not have a pool pass, a parent pass will be provided to accompany your child into the pool during the free swim.) Run for Fun

Inviting all youth, 9-13 years of age, to participate in a FUN, fitness program geared towards providing tips to begin forming life-long health, exercise and nutrition habits. Sessions include basic introduc-tions to distance running, stretching and strengthening exercises, running form drills, fun fitness games, relays, and nutrition advice. Program will conclude with a mini-cross country race around the Memorial Park. Instructed by CASHS Cross Country and Track Coach, Chris Monheim, as well as CASHS Track and Cross Country team members. Meets at Memorial Park Bandshell.

Hip-Hop Summer Camp

This half-day summer camp is a great way for your avid dancer to

build self-confidence, channel some energy and let his/her creativity

and performance take center stage during Hip-Hop Dance Camp! In-

structed by ‘Miss Adanna”, participants will learn a variety of rhythm

and dance moves set to some current and classic hip-hop songs. Par-

ticipants will showcase their dances for friends and family Friday eve-

ning at the Memorial Park Band Shell. Camp held at the Rec. Center

in Bard Hall.

Softball Clinic Instructed by Wilson College’s Softball Coach, Brett Cline and mem-bers of the Wilson College Softball team, participants will learn and practice the fundamental skills necessary in this exciting girl’s sport. CMA is a hybrid system yet it remains true to the traditional martial arts struc-

tures, rankings, and disciplines in Bushido. Participants will learn all sides of

the martial arts that incorporates the best techniques for self-defense, sport,

and discipline. Program instructed by Jason Angstadt, 6th degree black belt in

CMA & 20 yrs. Experience in martial arts. Held at Rec. Center. Join at any time!

Beginners focus on developing fundamental skills, and more experienced players continue to improve upon existing strengths. All will enjoy combinations of fun drills, lead-up games, game situations. A daily, recreational swim concludes each camp day. Held at the Chambersburg Municipal Pool's outdoor bas-ketball court.

Soccer & Rec Swim Camp

Parents! - looking for a local soccer camp where your child will learn impor-tant fundamental soccer concepts, build and improve existing skills, and elevate his/her game performance? Then let your soccer enthusiast jump start his or her summer break kicking and splashing at our 1/2 day soccer and rec swim camp! Coached by some of the area's most knowledgeable and trained clinicians, youth will participate in focused, themed concepts/drills, various lead-up activities and small-sided games to keep the pace fun and energized. Break for lunch and then cool down during a rec swim at the Mu-nicipal Pool! Held at Memorial Park behind the band Shell.

Red Cross Certified “Learn to Swim” Program All classes are taught by certified Red Cross Instructors. All lessons are held at the Chambersburg Municipal Pool, M-F, in 2-week increments. If necessary, you may divide your session and register for the first week of one session and the second week of another, except for Guard Start and Lifeguarding Today.

Pool Parties and Rental Info. Planning a party for your kids, but not sure what to do? Let the Municipal Pool come to your rescue! We offer parties during regular pool operational hours, or you may rent the pool for a private gathering. See below for basic information, but call the Recreation Department for further details and to schedule your event.

The Chambersburg Municipal Pool is open Memorial Day - Labor Day. Season passes may be purchased at a 10% discount through May 24th, at the Recreation Office. Fees include use of mini-golf, sand volleyball, basketball, and skateboard areas. Definition of “Family Pass” - A family membership includes up to a maximum of five (5) family members, residing at the same address, and

is limited to four (4) adults, age 18 and older. Each additional family member: $15/person Grandparent Add-on - A grandparent may be added to a family, youth, or adult membership at half the price of a Sr. Citizen membership.

When either a Grandparent or a Nanny visits the pool, he/she must show pass upon entry, and must be accompanied by a member of the family

holding pass ownership. If the individual is not accompanied by a family member, the daily rate will be charged.

Military Discount - Active military personnel and family members showing proper military ID are eligible to receive a season pass or the daily

rate at 50% off the regular price of admission.

Clarke, Jr. Community Center (A.K.A. the "Recreation Center") provides space for numerous indoor activities and includes small meeting rooms, two gymnasiums, and a large banquet room? Refund / Transfer Policies Programs We will offer refunds for any program, provided you contact us 7 days prior to the first class. (A $5.00 administrative fee will be retained by the Recreation Department for each refund issued.) After this time refunds will not be issued except for medical emergencies. Swimming Lessons Transfers are honored two weeks prior to the start of each session and are assessed a fee of $5.00. Refunds are only granted for illness, injury, or medical emergency, and families must provide a physician’s note. Returned Checks Any check returned for insufficient funds will be assessed an additional $25. Please Register early? Register Early! Any program that doesn’t receive sufficient registration by it’s deadline may be canceled.
