JOHN JACOB ASTOR

• John Jacob Astor was born in Rhinebeck New York on July

13, 1864

• He was a business man, inventor, author, and a prominent

member of the Astor family

• In 1891 he married ava his first wife and had two children, a

boy and a girl

• In 1909 he divorced ava and remarried to Madeleine Force

Astor

MADELEINE FORCE ASTOR

• Madeleine was born on June 19, 1893 in New York, New York

• She reportedly met John when he was entertaining the force

family

• She got engaged to John in 1910 and married him in 1911

• They boarded the titanic because she wanted her baby to be born

in America and then later blamed herself for johns death

LIFE ON THE TITANIC

People say that as the boat was sinking Astor freed the dogs from their

kennel so the sinking would be less harsh for them

People also say that he put a women's hat on a little boy so he could

get into a lifeboat

Madeleine Astor was put on life boat four and soon reported to the

Carpathian

Astor cut the lining of a lifejacket to show madeleine what was inside

of it

LIFE AFTER THE TITANIC

Madeleine remarried twice to William k. Dick and Enzo Feirmonte

She had johns kid after the titanic disaster followed by two more

kids

She stayed out of the public eye for a long time after the disaster

but then surprised some by remarrying William.
