February 9th, The Fifth Sunday in
Ordinary TimeRelationships die from neglect
or harsh criticism. They need at least five positive
interactions to each negative interaction. Be light and salt in your marriage by saying
that kind word with a note or flowers. Go the extra mile in helping with family chores. Give encouragement rather than criticism. Let those you love, hear and see that love! Let your light shine through
good deeds.Let us pray: For God’s gracious blessing on all engaged and married couples. Let us pray
to the Lord.

THE GOOD NEWSREFLECTION FROM FATHER DAVE
Someone shared with me this story recently, and it really touched me…I hope that it touches your heart too!
A little boy and his father visited the country store, and upon leaving the store, the owner of the store offered the little boy some free Sweets... “Get a handful of Sweets,” the merchant said to the boy. The boy just stood there looking up at his father. The owner repeated himself: “Son, get a handful of Sweets... it’s free.” Again the boy did not move, continuing to look up in the face of his father. Finally the father reached into the candy jar and got a handful of Sweets and gave it to his son. As they walked back home, the father stopped and asked his son why he did not grab a handful of the free candy. The boy with a big smile on his face looked into the face of his father and said: “Because I know that your HAND is BIGGER than mine.”
So, whatever your needs are for 2020, please place them in the FATHER’S HAND IN HEAVEN, BECAUSE HIS HAND IS BIGGER THAN YOURS.
Of other things…
This weekend is the annual Catholic Charities “In the Pew” Appeal. Thanking you in advance for your generosity.
Also, this weekend, we celebrate World Marriage Day (February 9, 2020). A special prayer goes out to all married couples. God bless you in your calling…living out your vows in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. May it be mostly in health and in good times! Don’t underestimate the power of the graces of your sacrament.
Love in Christ,
Father Dave

The 2020 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal is underway with an in-pew commitment process taking place this weekend. This is not a special collection; rather, the Catholic Charities Annual Appeal represents the chance for all Catholics to make a significant pledge, payable in installments, to Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland in order to support its mission of a society that stands united in its support of the “least among us.” Many parishioners have received a letter from Bishop Perez requesting their support. If you have not received this letter, please respond to the in-pew commitment process today! If you have received the mailing, please respond to it. There is a box on the in-pew envelope to indicate that you have responded by mail. On behalf of the poor and needy of Northeast Ohio, thank you! We invite you to view stories of inspiration and more information at CatholicCommunity.org/2020Appeal. To make a donation today, text CCHOPE to 41444 or visit CatholicCommunity.org/Donate.

PRO-LIFE NEWS
ANOTHER LOOK AT ABORTION PART 2
Abortion Is Permitted Up to Full-Term Birth Many people don’t realize how unrestricted legal abortion is, misled by Roe’s claim that states may ban abortions after viability “except when it is necessary to preserve the life or health of the mother.” (“Viability” is when the baby has a reasonable chance of survival outside the womb.) But in Roe’s companion case, Doe v. Bolton, the Court defined “health” to include “all factors – physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age – relevant to the well-being” of the mother. That seems broad enough to permit virtually any abortion post-viability. The Supreme Court, however, has yet to be confronted with a challenge to a post-viability ban that will test Doe’s breadth. Indeed, 20 states currently ban late-term abortions subject to a narrow exception for the mother’s life or physical health (not for emotional, psychological, familial, or age-related reasons). Most of these laws have gone unchallenged, but they are hard to enforce even if they are constitutionally permissible.
