Page 2: Job Seekers Marketing Tri Fold

In early 2009 I found myself unemployed and looking for

a new job. My former employer was very kind in the

termination package and included outplacement service.

As I worked through the material the service provided I

was disappointed that they were not offering any new

ideas for job seekers. Then I started attending

networking session and that’s where I found many new

ideas percolating.

The one idea I want to share with my connections is the

Personal Marketing Brochure or Tri-Fold. Besides having

a marketing plan this is one of the best tools a job seeker

can carry around.

This brief presentation outlines how you can create one

for yourself.

The Marketing Tri-Fold

Production

• This brouchure was created using MS-Publisher which is a great tool with many easy to use templates. They also have a number of matching business card and letter templates.

• Print the brouchure using a color laser jet printer at home or at an office supply store.

• Special tri-fold paper is available at most office supply stores and it is pre-creased so it folds easily.

• If you are using Jay Litton’s wonderful wwWoWTM interview technique you parts of this to create a single page recap as the last sheet in your wwWoWTM presentation.

Final Thoughts

In the summer of 2009 I accepted a contracting

position, when I interviewed with the CEO I gave

him a copy of my marketing brouchure before

leaving his office. The first day on the job as I met

his key reports they all told me that they recognized

me from the brouchure that I left with the CEO.

Did I get the job just because of the brouchure? No,

I like to think that as Jay Litton says I was the “Most

Prepared, Most Passionate and Most Qualified”

person that was interviewed for the jposition.

However, I am sure the brouchure helped.

I want to thank all of the people who encouraged me

to create one, especially Ken Benson who I met

while networking at DBM. http://www.linkedin.com/in/thomasedawson
