Four students from John Leggott College reached the final of the IFS School of Finance Student Investor competition held in London.

Over 10,000 teams entered the competition but the JLC team managed to sail through to the second phase at Leeds Metropolitan University and then on to the National Final in London.

Dave Gillman, a Business Studies Teacher at John Leggott

College, said, “Our four students were fantastic and a credit to JLC at every stage of the competition. They have been excellent ambassadors for the College and I am very proud of their achievements in this competition. Our Business studies and Economics department enter a number of competitions throughout the year to give students the opportunity to develop their knowledge and experiences in the field of commerce and industry.”

JLC students He Ying (Helen) and Luo Yuqing (Ariel) from Guangzhou, China, have gained places at Oxford University residential summer schools. Competition for places on these summer schools is fierce and the applicants had to complete a detailed personal statement. During the one-week programme Helen will be studying Biology and Ariel Physical Sciences.
