From the pastor’s desk My good friends,

Of all my 28 years in the priesthood, I think that this

feast of St. Francis 2015 was probably the BEST. Do

you see that line of my little

friends? And it continued right to

4pm! And it just seemed that,

even though every little ‘amigo’

had to wait for his or her blessing,

everyone was so happy. But I’ve

always said that, caring for a little

pet makes us more thoughtful and

happy people. They can make

our homes happier (if you’re able

to care for, and play with them,

properly every day.) Thanks to

every one – young and old – who

made my feast day so nice.

(maybe what was NOT so nice is

that my two little ‘brothers

Hercules and Chaka and I were

attacked by a pit bull!! See, like

the books of Wisdom say from

the Old Testament; ‘no good deed

goes unpunished!’)

I’m so grateful that everyone

has heeded my and Father Jose’s

call to get your children into

religion classes. We now have

over 700 children. While we will

not turn away any boy or girl at

this point, it may be necessary for your child to study

with me on an afternoon during the week – like a

Thursday or a Friday afternoon. But by all means,

please bring them to Jesus.

Father José comes home from the Dominican

Republic this week. Until then, we are so blest to have

Father Angel with us.

Free Flu Shots: On Sunday, October 18,

beginning at 11 am, Dr. Luis Almonte will be in the

rectory basement to distribute 50 free flu shots. You

must call the rectory office and leave your name and

telephone.

Del escritorio del pastor mis buenos amigos,

Soy sacerdote 28 años, pero este año fue lo mejor

el día de San Francisco. Tu vé la fila tan grande? Y

vinieron hasta las 4pm con

sus pequeños ‘amigos’. Y

aunque tenían que esperar,

t odos t en í an t an t a

paciencia y un espíritu de

felicidad. Siempre he

creído que si podemos

aceptar un animal en la

familia para cuidar bien y

jugar todos los días, nos

hacen de nosotros personas

mas felices.

Honestamente, el único

problema fue con un pit

bull que atacó a mis dos

perritos Chaka y Hércules

– y a mí también. Pero

que dijo Jesús, repitiendo

las enseñanzas de los

libros de la sabiduría? Si

hacemos el bien, la vida va

a responder con nuevos

problemas!

Algo mas serio es el

asunto de catecismo. Me

a l e g r o q u e t a n t o s

escucharon al Padre José y

a mí cuando habíamos predicado sobre la necesidad

de poner a tus hijos en las clases de religión. Ahora

tenemos mas de 700!! Aquí tenemos el problema.

Si vienes ahora para inscribirse, en muchas clases no

hay mas espacio. Pero nunca voy a cerrar las

puertas. Si es necesario que tu hijo o tu nieta estudie

conmigo un día durante la semana (miércoles o

viernes..) entonces empezaremos otras clases. Pero

nunca vamos a rechazar a un joven!

El Padre José regresa de la Republica Dominicana

esta semana. Hasta entonces, tenemos la bendición

de la presencia y trabajo del padre Ángel.

one of our staff, Marlene, to handle all the scheduling

of appointments. I am of the old school. I still believe

that everyone should be attending mass on Sundays.

These are the faithful who have to come first in my

ministry. Without you, the good and faithful

committed Catholics, our church would fall apart.

Therefore, if you need an appointment to talk about

anything whatsoever, please see Marlene after mass on

Sunday. She will give you a time to meet in the office

where we can talk comfortably.
