National Institute of Fashion technology was set up in 1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Continuing Education(CE) Programs at NIFT

National Institute of Fashion Technology, besides conducting regular Professional undergraduate and postgraduates Programmes in Design, management and Technology, also offers Short duration Courses under Continuing Education (CE).

NIFT has crafted a range of Continuing Education Programmes, which have been developed in consultation with reputed academician and industry practitioners. These programmes reflect the requirement and concerns of industry and have been carefully planned to spur professional Growth, to individuals at different stages of their career, and also to aspiring to join the industry or become entrepreneur.

The CE Certificate Programmes are aimed at complementing the practical knowledge of the industry professionals with formal technical education in their respective areas of work. The Flexible schedule enables the participants to pursue the programme without interrupting their professional activities. With focus on interactive learning, the programme provides a congenial environment that integrates theory with practice.

The Institute offer very short term summer workshops for value addition and skill buildings.

Participants receive a NIFT Certificate on successful completion of the Programme.

Started at NIFT- Gandhinagar in 2000; Department of Fashion & Lifestyle Accessories started design programme specializing in jewellery and Precious metal aims at evolving the necessary expertise in the field of design, technology and project management. This augmented with an understanding of market consumer behavior, trends and forecast, with strategies application of design in a larger business context. The last decade has seen the Gems and Jewellery industry in India grow at astonishing level with design emerging as a crucial component of value addition in the competitive global environment. Since today taste and inclination of both the national and international consumer evolve at a blinding pace, the necessity of holistic approach towards evolving design solution in the current industry environment is absolute.

Department of fashion & Lifestyle Accessories (F&LA) at NIFT Gandhinagar

Course Objective

This course will imparts understanding about various kind of jewellery including fine jewellery, fashion jewellery, costume jewellery, Artistic jewellery & Bead Jewellery and its manufacturing techniques. Course will impart the Design skills, Aesthetic sense & awareness about Jewellery brands. It will give the knowledge about design process involved in Jewellery development and provide opportunity to explore various material, process, and advanced technique to create contemporary jewellery as well as traditional Jewellery. The course is designed for people who have inclination toward Jewellery and have similar trade family background.

Course Content

The course specialize in to provide Designing skills, Material understanding and various Handcrafted manufacturing skills as well modern techniques using traditional and modern technique like CAD/CAM.

The Audience

Participants will come from different background science to design. They should have flair for fashion and inclination toward jewellery and interested in start new career in Jewellery Industry. This course will for Students, young artists, Housewives, next generation of Family Business owner and person who are working in Jewellery Industry and can pursue this course in part time.

The Future

This course aims to build entrepreneurship skills among the participant. After completion of this course participant can start their own Studio at smaller scale. Also, this course prepares professionals to pursue career in Jewellery Designing, Product Development, and Merchandising in Jewellery Brand & Jewellery Manufacturing unit of Domestic as well as in Overseas.

NIFT will provide reference/Assistance in placement for participant who want to work in Industry.

10+2 or equiva lent pass From Recognized Institute/Board/Council(Foreign Country Students require similar qualification)Note:- International student need to submit the English proficiency certificate( Can be wave off If the last education mode was in English medium)

SelectionSelection will done by F&LA Department Jury member on the basis of,1. Educational Qualification2. Relevant Work Experience(who do not have relevant work Experience can submit the letter of Intent)3. Portfolio( Not necessary, but it will help in selection Process)

orBasis of Interview after initial Scrutiny/Direct Entry for Artist who have inclination toward Jewellery Craft.

Fee Structure

For Domestic Students,INR. 65,000/- (Sixty Five Thousand only)+ INR 2,500/-(Library Fee)+ INR. 3,000/-(Security Deposit).

For NRI & International Students,$ 3250 (Tution Fee)+ $55(Library Fee)+ $65(Secuirity Deposit)

Payment of Fee

The Selected candidates will required to submit full course fee along with Library & Security Deposit at the time of admission.

Canteen Facility

Participant can avail the In-house canteen facility on Monthly/Annual payable basis,

For Applicant living in the Hostel - INR. 24,000/- (Approx. $520) Annual. This includes Morning breakfast, Tea, Lunch, Snacks and evening dinner.

Local students from Ahmedabad or nearby area can pay actual cost on day to day basis.

Transportation Facility

Free Bus service(To & Fro) will be provided to the students coming from Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar.NIFT will also provide Free Bus services during Industrial visit & Tour during the Course.

Hostel Facility

Participant can avail the In-house Hostel(Only for Girls) facility on payable basis at NIFT Gandhinagar campus. Boys can also avail the Hostel facility on payable basis in outside the NIFT campus. The annual fee for Hostel facility is INR. 35,000/-(Approax $750)
