Literature in English
LiteratureWhat A-Level Literature is not: not a reading circle;
not a club to talk about feelings.What A-Level Literature is: analysis of literary
techniques and effects to make sense of texts.
Do not take Literature if: you struggle to read and write in English; will not read your texts; think it is a “soft subject”, “easy to score in”, or “can smoke one”. We will prove you wrong every single day. Do take Literature if: you are willing to think
critically, participate actively, read your texts, and wrestle with ambiguity and abstraction.
H2s: 5 texts; H1s: 2 texts. Poetry is inescapable. Note: O-Level Literature is not a prerequisite.
Mathematics
H1 Maths or H2 Maths?
• The question should be “What course do I intend to take in the University?
• This is key in helping you to decide the choice. • Please refer to the University websites for the courses and
check if they require H1 Maths or H2 Maths. Many science-based courses only require a pass in H1 Maths.
Further Mathematics
• To find out more on Selection test, please proceed to LT5 at 1pm today.
