Weve been getting a quite a few emails about the upcoming Japanese Accelerator course. Were excited about it, but frankly all the emails havecreated something of a problem for us...

A lot of your questions are being asked by other people too, and we have beenwriting the same responses to everyone... over and over again :)

So all of this has lead to a realization: There has to be a better way to handlethings. After a quick phone meeting we came up with an idea!

Popular Question #1:

What are the Lessons Like?

There are two main lesson types: video lessons and interactive simulationexercises . Video lessons cover fundamentals of the language while the simulationexercises get you interacting with the language out-loud just like in real life.

The simulation lessons are conducted using a breakthrough software originallydeveloped by internationally recognized Japanese professor Masashi Kato.

Step 1: Conversation overview

Watch a video of two Japanese

speakers having a conversation.

All of the conversations are taken froma real life situation that you willdenitely encounter.

A transcription of each conversation ispresented next to the video. You havethe option of viewing it in Japanese,romaji, or the English translation so youcan follow along and understand whatis being said.

Step 2: Learn vocabulary

A list of vocabulary words found in theconversation are presented along withtheir romaji readings and denitions.

Click on any of the words to hear anaudio clip of how the word ispronounced.

Step 3: Repeat and mimic

Learn the part of the conversation thatapplies to the lesson.

Repeat after and mimic the speaker onephrase at a time. Do so out loud so youget used to saying the words and usingthe gestures that go along with theconversation.

Step 4: Simulate the conversation!

This is the exciting part! Now you get toput yourself inside of the conversationand talk with your conversationpartner.

Your partner will wait for you as youreply, and record your responses.

Participating in the conversationsimulation will condition your brain tobe ready to speak Japanese with rpeople.

After completing the simulation anumber of times, speaking Japanesewill begin to feel totally natural.

Popular Question #2:What Will I Learn?

The easy answer to this one is: a lot.

Unlike many other programs, books, CDs, and software you may have bought,you will gain a solid understanding of the fundamentals of Japanese AND get aton of practical on the street conversation practice.

This course gives you just the right amount of theory (not too much, not toolittle), and a TON of interactive practice .

Here are examples of some of the things you will learn:

All of the sounds found in Japanese, and none that arent.

How to create your own sentences.

Tips for remembering and using particles in conversation.

Step 5: Review your performance

Compare your conversation side-by-side with the original and see how youdid!

Popular Question #3:Can I Learn at my Own Pace?

Yes! There are 4 modules which are meant to be completed over 4 weeks butcan be completed at your own pace to t your schedule.

You may decide to complete the course in less than 4 weeks (although we dontrecommend it), or want to take your time and extend the course for longer than4 weeks. We will coach you along, answer your questions, and give guidance forfour weeks starting the day you register. You will continue to have full-access toall of the materials after the four week period concludes.


How Many Lessons are There?

There are four modules with lessons spread out across the modules. In total,there are 71 lessons that range from 5 minute videos to half-hour simulationexercises.


Do I Need to Know How to Read Kanji or Kana?

You do not need to know how to read Kanji or Kana to enroll in the Japanese Accelerator course. The 3 Japanese alphabets are one of the biggest barriersthat keep people from learning Japanese. Many people start by trying to learnthe alphabets rst and often causes them to lose motivation. Thats not what wewant for you...

While being able to read Kanji and Kan a is extremely useful and worth knowing,the emphasis of this course is on learning and becoming comfortable inconversation found in everyday life.

We want you to get the maximum benet out of Japanese as soon as possible.

Popular Question #6:Why Isnt Registration Always Open?

Due to the personalized follow-up and coaching that we give to each student,we must limit the amount of people who can register.

While we would like to give this quality of attention to everyone, we just donthave the manpower to handle something like that at this point. For this reason,we have developed a waiting list in order to allow you to register when a spotopens up and it is your turn.

Yes, the course is conducted online. However, there are elements of the coursethat you can download and print for convenien ce.

No, there are no tests that you need to complete.

At the end of each module, you can ll-out a self-evaluation form. Doing this willhelp us to ensure that youre getting the most out of the course and give you anopportunity to reect on your progress.

Will it Work on My Computer? What Are the TechnicalRequirements for My Computer?:

All aspects of Japanese Accelerator work regardless of your operating system. As long as you have a modern Internet browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer 7+,Google Chrome, Opera), Adobe Flash Player, a microphone, and an Internetconnection, you will not encounter problems due to your operating system.

Popular Question #10:What if Im Not a Total Beginner?:

Many Japanese Accelerator students have studied Japanese formally (in aschool/college) or on their own, but still do not feel comfortable with theirspeaking and conversation skills.

If you nd yourself in this boat, Japanese Accelerator is built for you. Unlike thethings you have studied before, it gets you actually interacting with thelanguage, not just learning about it.

The majority of the lessons are built around functional situations instead of

ideas like past/present tenses or verb conjugation. While these things arecovered in the beginning of the course, the bulk of the lessons help you buildyour condence in your ability to speak Japanese in the real world (not theclassroom).

Popular Question #11:What if I Am a Total Beginner?:

Although you may nd it a little fast in the beginning, you will be surprised atwhat you will be able to do in Japanese by the time you nish.

There is no ability to slow-down conversations so it may feel like jumping in to acold lake at rst. It is very similar to what you might feel if you were to go toJapan and attempt speaking with someone there right now. The difference isthat with Japanese Accelerator we provide translations, romaji (text readable toEnglish speakers), and vocabulary with each simulation exercise. And ofcourse, we are here to coach you through it and answer your questions.
