G ATHER P REPARATION REFLECTION
“Our prayers may be awkward. Our attempts may be feeble. But since the power of prayer is in
the one who hears it and not in the one who says it, our prayers do make a difference." [Max
Lucado]
“You want my tears, every messy word
Every scar and every fear
You want all I have
With no holding back
When I'm hurt, at my worst
You meet me there
'Cause you see the beauty
In my broken prayers” [Lyrics to Broken Prayers by Riley Clemmons]
PRELUDE Worship Team [Becca Wion, Annette Christensen] Song: Oceans [Verse 1] You call me out upon the waters The great unknown where feet may fail And there I find You in the mystery In oceans deep, my faith will stand
[Chorus] And I will call upon Your name And keep my eyes above the waves When oceans rise my soul will rest in Your embrace For I am Yours and You are mine
[Verse 2] Your grace abounds in deepest waters Your sovereign hand will be my guide Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me You've never failed and You won't start now [Bridge] Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders Let me walk upon the waters Wherever You would call me Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander And my faith will be made stronger In the presence of my Savior

SONGS OF ADORATION Worship Team
Song: Grace Alone [Verse 1] I was an orphan lost at the Fall Running away when I'd hear Your call But Father, You worked Your will I had no righteousness of my own I had no right to draw near Your throne But Father, You loved me still
[Chorus 1] And in love before You laid the world's foundation You predestined to adopt me as Your own You have raised me so high up above my station I'm a child of God by grace and grace alone
[Verse 2] You left Your home to seek out the lost You knew the great and terrible cost But Jesus, Your face was set I worked my fingers down to the bone Nothing I did could ever atone But Jesus, You paid my debt
[Chorus 2] By Your blood, I have redemption and salvation Lord, You died that I might reap what You have sown And You rose that I might be a new creation I am born again by grace and grace alone
[Verse 3] I was in darkness all of my life I never knew the day from the night But Spirit, You made me see I swore I knew the way on my own Head full of rocks, a heart made of stone But Spirit, You moved in me
[Chorus 3] At your touch my sleeping spirit was awakened On my darkened heart the light of Christ has shone Called into a kingdom that cannot be shaken Heaven's citizen by grace and grace alone
[Outro] So I'll stand in faith by grace and grace alone I will run the race by grace and grace alone I will slay my sin by grace and grace alone I will reach the end by grace and grace alone

Song: My Redeemer’s Love [Verse 1] My Redeemer’s love is deeper Than the depths of sin and hell He who was enthroned in glory Came to bring us to Himself My Redeemer’s love is wider Than the breach my sins had made He reached down into my darkness He alone has pow’r to save [Chorus 1] Deeper than the rolling seas Higher than the mountain peaks Your love is all I need [Verse 2] My Redeemer’s love is stronger Than my fiercest enemies He will hold me in the tempest Through the flood He carries me My Redeemer’s love will lead me Through the deepest valley here
He will shepherd me and guide me He will ever keep me near [Chorus 2] Deeper than the rolling seas Higher than the mountain peaks Your love is all I need Stronger than the rushing wind Shattering the power of sin Your love is all I need [Verse 3] My Redeemer’s love grows sweeter As eternity draws near I’ll enjoy His love forever At His throne for endless years My Redeemer’s love will fill me On the day I see His face I will love Him back forever And forever sing His praise

G ATHER C ONFESSION & A SSURANCE
CALL TO CONFESSION ( Romans 5:5,8 ) Randy Anderson LEADER: “(Our) hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us...God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Therefore let us confess our sin together!
PRAYER OF CONFESSION (Book of Common Worship) ALL: Everlasting God, in whom we live and move and have our being: You have made us for yourself, so that our hearts are restless until they rest in you. We have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed. Give us purity of heart and strength of purpose, that no selfish passion may hinder us from knowing your will, no weakness keep us from doing it; that in your light we may see light clearly, and in your service find perfect freedom; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. SILENT CONFESSION
ASSURANCE OF PARDON ( Romans 8:34 & 2 Corinthians 5:17 ) Randy Anderson LEADER: “Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” PEOPLE: Thanks be to God! SONG OF CONFIDENCE Worship Team Song: Rock of Ages [Verse 1] Rock of Ages, cleft for me
Let me hide myself in Thee
Let the water and the blood
From Thy wounded side which flowed
Be of sin the double cure
Save from wrath and make me pure
[Verse 2] Not the labor of my hands
Can fulfill Thy law’s demands
Could my zeal no respite know
Could my tears forever flow
All for sin could not atone
Thou must save, and Thou alone
[Verse 3] Nothing in my hand I bring
Simply to Thy cross I cling
Naked, come to Thee for dress
Helpless, look to Thee for grace
Foul, I to the fountain fly
Wash me, Savior, or I die

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Guide the people of this land, and of all the nations, in the ways of justice and peace that we may honor one another and serve the common good. We pray for those who lead and serve us in our own community, for our civil and our spiritual leaders. (Silence and free intersessions)

Give us all a reverence for the earth as your own creation, that we may use its resources rightly in the service of others and to your honor and glory. We pray for those in our own congregation who are directly involved in this task and reflect your image by seeking to cultivate the beauty of your Creation in art, conservation, research and culture making. W ORD S CRIPTURE READING & S ERMON Series: The Sign of Jonah Title: Broken Prayers Text: Jonah 2:19 SCRIPTURE READING Olivia Carpenter > Please stand if you are able for a reading from God’s Holy Word. Today’s Scripture reading is from Jonah 2:19. Please join me in reading the verses printed in green.
[1] Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, [2] saying,
“I called out to the Lord, out of my distress,
and he answered me;
out of the belly of Sheol I cried,
and you heard my voice. [3] For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your waves and your billows passed over me. [4] Then I said, ‘I am driven away
from your sight;
yet I shall again look
upon your holy temple.’
[5] The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head [6] at the roots of the mountains.
I went down to the land
whose bars closed upon me forever;
yet you brought up my life from the pit,
O Lord my God.
[7] When my life was fainting away, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer came to you, into your holy temple. [8] Those who pay regard to vain idols
forsake their hope of steadfast love.
[9] But I with the voice of thanksgiving will sacrifice to you; what I have vowed I will pay. Salvation belongs to the Lord!”

As I search for spiritual truth, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the life you promise. Amen. Prayer of belief Lord Jesus, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner. Trusting in God's love and in your death and resurrection on my behalf, I ask you to forgive me, merciful Lord, and fill me with your Holy Spirit. Relying upon your grace, I promise to confess you publicly before others, to serve you daily and walk in your way. Amen. Prayer of commitment Lord Jesus, you called your disciples to be baptized and follow your commandments. Grant that I may take the necessary steps to become one with you and with your church, and live in the fullness of your Spirit. Amen. SONG OF RESPONSE Worship Team Song: At the Cross [Verse 1] Oh Lord You've searched me
You know my way
Even when I fail You
I know You love me
[Verse 2] Your holy presence
Surrounding me
In every season
I know You love me
I know You love me
[Chorus] At the cross I bow my knee
Where Your blood was shed for me
There's no greater love than this
You have overcome the grave
Your glory fills the highest place
What can separate me now
[Verse 3] You go before me
You shield my way
Your hand upholds me
I know You love me
[Bridge] You tore the veil
You made a way
When You said that it is done
[Verse 4] And when the earth fades
Falls from my eyes
And You stand before me
I know You love me
I know You love me
