HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hopefully everybody had a relaxing, safe
Winter Break and now is feeling recharged for the new year! This newsletter
contains a recap of December’s DCM and a projection forward to the rest of
January. Key Club accomplished a ton during 2011, but can it top 2011’s ser-
vice in 2012? You bet it can! I’m calling out everyone to take action this new
year and to do the most community service
he has ever done before. Maybe make a New
Years Resolution by saying you’ll do some-
thing small every day. It’s amazing how the
little things add up, and doing a bunch of
small tasks is much easier to accomplish than
one huge task! Set goals, and you can accomplish anything! If anybody is inter-
ested in becoming Division 42 West’s 2012-2013 LTG, look into the Candi-
date Training Conference coming up on January 14th! Good luck with finals,
and enjoy the new year! As crazy and confusing and hard high school can
seem, just remember each day is a new day!
“Year's end is neither an end
nor a beginning but a going
on, with all the wisdom that
experience can instill in us.”
Hal Borland
What a great turn-out! With people bring- ing their white elephant gifts, snacks, and even pizza, the day was set to be a good one. It began with a meeting, con-
sisting of new usuals that began at the November DCM: sitting arrangement, high-five
buddy, and introduction. A spirit practice and Fall Rally South recap were also held. Towards the end, a teambuilding workshop was held where members were showed how
important communication and teamwork is in order to complete a given task, in this case flipping the magic carpet without anyone falling off. After several minutes and
start-overs, one team was able to successfully turn it over. Great job! Following that, eve-
ryone was given half an hour of free time to hang out, eat and play games like Twister, Jenga, Candyland, and more! The free time really allowed everyone to become more
comfortable and just relax until some Christmas spirit came. So when it was over, each
person gathered around the tables once again for an activity called "My Key Club
Wish" where each attendee wrote on a piece of a paper one wish they would like. Before
each upcoming DCM, two wishes will be randomly chosen and fulfilled at the next
meeting. To top off the night, the Orcas enjoyed a magical game of White Elephant
that brought out the thieves in some of us, smiles on all of us, and a new gift to bring
home! It was definitely a wonderful last DCM to end 2011!
