JANUARY 19, 2016 RICHLAND HILLS CHRISTIAN CHURCH THE CHURCH VISITOR The Echoes Continue I can still hear them, can you? As I hit the spikes on the cross on Sunday it just reminded me again of what Christ has done for me. His suffering and death for my shortcomings, my sin is, at times, beyond my ability to fully comprehend. Why me? Why us? I believe it is important to personalize what Christ has done for each of us in order for it to reach deep within our souls and inspire us for whatever he calls us to do. Christ gave His all for us. As I mentioned, during my upbringing I went to the Stations of the Cross every year during Lent. It was the remembrance of Christ’s journey to Calvary and his suffering and ultimately his crucifixion on the Cross. I am to this day burdened by those images and thoughts. Each year during Lent I have shown the Passion of the Christ at the churches we have served because I want us to be reminded of his love and sacrifice for us. The Maturing in Christ cards I passed out over the last few weeks seeks to do the same things. To connect us to our faith and belief in God in such a way that we are motivated to do more, to be more for God. 29 members of the church, so far, have committed to giving more of themselves to growing in their faith. Of course I know some took them home as well. Out of the 29, 26 committed to reading through the entire Bible or New Testament this year. That’s up about 25% from last year. Everyone of them committed to praying for our church daily. Many also said they would attend a Sunday School class. It’s not too late for you to commit. The Maturing in Christ forms will be just outside of the Sanctuary and I encourage you to make a commitment and fill one out. You will never be the same after making a deeper commitment to God. --Pastor Paul ALWAYS WE!!! Never Me.

THE CHURCH VIS ITOR

The Echoes Continue I can still hear them, can you? As I hit the spikes on the cross on Sunday it just reminded me again of what Christ has done for me. His suffering and death for my shortcomings, my sin is, at times, beyond my ability to fully comprehend. Why me? Why us? As I mentioned, during my upbringing I went to the Stations of the Cross every year during Lent. It was the remembrance of Christ’s journey to Calvary and his suffering and ultimately his crucifixion on the Cross. I am to this day burdened by those images and thoughts. Each

year during Lent I have shown the Passion of the Christ at the churches we have served because I want us to be reminded of his love and sacrifice for us.

The Maturing in Christ cards I passed out over the last few weeks seeks to do the same things. Maturing in Christ This past Sunday in the bulletin, I placed an insert to challenge us in several areas in 2016. I provided an opportunity for every one attending to make a commitment to grow in their faith in 2016. This coming week those forms will be located onthe table in the Gathering Area outside of the sanctuary. Watch and see the difference it makes in the life of this God’s church as WE work to move

RightNow Media One of the programs we got involved with last year was RightNow Media. I have been to three of their conferences here in Dallas and am really encouraged by its potential to reach into the lives of people both in the church and those that have moved away from church. This technology driven resource contains 10,000 resources and just about anything that you could want. This includes 2,000 Christian cartoons. It can be accessed on any smart device including phones, computers, and TVs, to name a few. I hope in 2016 you take some time to look at this wonderful resource. See the difference it can make in your faith walk. Also, if you have a family member or friend that you think would benefit from this resource, send me the email, and we can add them to our account. Don’t miss out on this great resource!

Girl Scout Cookies Have Arrived!Just in case you haven’t noticed, Girl Scout cookies are here again. Zoey McGormley will be selling them here at the church over the next few Sundays in the Gathering Area.

The annual large truckload that is distributed from our parking lot came in Tuesday totaling over 2100 boxes. The sales of these cookies provide the funds for Girl Scout activities throughout the year. So, please support this important fundraiser.

Children & Youth Survey

This Sunday an insert will be in the bulletin to gather information for our Children and Youth Ministry. We would ask that parents fill them out with the requested information so we can provide more opportunities for our youth and children to grow in their faith. After they are completed, simply place them in the offering plate so we can tabulate the information.
