a message from jane hull
Dear Church Family,Five years ago, as I shared with you my unexpected calling to the pastorate, you supported me with love and prayers as I did an unusual thing. For three years I drove back and forth every week to Atlanta as a student at the McAfee School of Theology. David and I learned to live in this unusual rhythm and were
able to make the most of the time we had together each week.
Since my graduation a year and a half ago, I have had the joy and privilege of serving as a supply preacher for churches in the southeast. I love to say, “have sermon, will travel” as I’ve had opportunities to share God’s Word in several states. This has enabled me to follow my calling and still be around First Baptist Huntsville a great deal.
I want to share some exciting news with you. This past week I have been called as the Interim Pastor of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), in Birmingham. I will begin my work with them on February 4, after preaching the day before at Pintlala Baptist Church in Hope Hull, AL for the Martha Stearns Marshall month of preaching. My normal weekly schedule will be Sunday through Wednesday in Birmingham, and Thursday through Saturday in Huntsville. I will spend my nights in Birmingham with David’s dad and Andrew – an added bonus!
As we all learn to live into an unusual schedule again, I ask for your prayers. First Christian is a wonderful church and I am so excited to be there. I worshipped with them yesterday and immediately felt right at home. As with any interim, we never know the length, but I am grateful for this time and this opportunity to grow, learn and serve so close to Huntsville. I will continue to hold you in my prayers as we all seek to follow God’s calling on our lives.
With love,Jane
