Various events are organized in the Hostel on different occasions
throughout the year. Few of the events are as below:
Informal Intro
New residents embark their new journey as hostel residents in a pleasant get together event
wherein they break the ice with other hostel mates and introduce themselves.
Independence Day On 15th of August when the nation is swept by the patriotism, hostel residents of Indira Gandhi
Delhi technical University also celebrate the day with great fervour which includes flag hoisting,
National Anthem in chorus, cultural programme and sweet distribution.
Janmashtmi To commemorate the birth of Lord Krishna, Janmashtmi celebrations are being organized in
Krishna hostel every year. The students decorate the altar enthusiastically, take part in traditional
pooja ceremony, reciting of bhajans and prayers followed by cultural performances.

Shanti Pooja
For the well-being of hostel residents an auspicious Shanti Pooja (Religious Hawan) is
conducted on the occasion of Navratri in the month of September-October. All the residents
participate and receive the blessings of holy deities.
Fresher's Party
A formal theme based fresher’s party is organized every year to welcome new residents. First
year students participate in a number of events like Ms. Fresher and fun games.

Dandia Night
During auspicious days of Navratri, residents of the hostel participate in dandiya night wherein
they enjoy fusion of Garba and modern DJ.
Diwali celebration Dusshera and Diwali are celebrated with great enthusiasm by decorating the hostel with diyas,
lights and rangoli followed by bursting eco-friendly crackers.

Christmas and New Year Celebration Christmas and New Year Celebration On the Eve of Christmas girls are taken to the church to
seek the blessings of Jesus Christ and enjoy their time with Hostel Santa.
Lohri Celebrations Girls are taken to the land of panjab burning a bone fire on the auspicious occasion of Lohri and
have makki ki roti and sarso ka saag.

Republic Day On 26th January, Republic day is celebrated in the hostel premises wherein all the residents take
part in cultural activities followed by sweets distribution.
Basant Panchami
To seek blessings of Goddess Saraswati, Basant Panchmi is celebrated with zeal and zest.
Students worship Goddess of knowledge with SaraswatiVandana and offer their obeisance.

Valentine’s day (candle Light Dinner)
A grand candle light dinner party is organized for the hostel residents on the occasion of
Valentine day i.e. a day to celebrate love and affection. The students decorate the hostel with
balloons, flowers and lights and offer gifts to each other.

Holi Celebration
Holi, the festival of colours is celebrated in the courtyard with girls enjoying the delicious
thandai and gujiya prepared by the mess.

Hostel Week Hostel week is celebrated in the hostel where various cultural, literary and sports events are
organized for girls within the hostel premises.
Farewell Party The end of the academic year is marked by celebrating hostel farewell, organized by the third year
students bidding farewell to their seniors wishing them good luck and success as they step into a
new world. These learned and wise ladies, well-groomed and responsible under the guidance and
strict yet motherly affection of the warden are ready to take up eminent positions in the society.

Self-Defence Programme
To impart a sense of self-respect and self-reliance, self defence programmes are organized
frequently in hostel premises wherein professional and police trainers provide rigorous training
to girls
International Yoga Day On 21st June, i.e. International yoga day, a yoga camp is organized in the hostel where residents
participate to attain physical, mental and spiritual healing and peace.
