Ankur Activities

Seasoned yogis, beginners, and everyone in between is encouraged to attend Ankur Yoga taught by excellent

and accomplished Yoga teachers. Along with reducing stress, Yoga increases flexibility, strength, fitness,

circulation and concentration. Please encourage friends and family to join Ankur Yoga and commit to a healthy

Anyone who enjoys Bridge is invited to come and play on Wednesday nights at Ankur.

Players should arrive at 6:45 so everyone can help set up tables and equipment downstairs. The aim is to be

seated with partners by 6:50 so play can begin. A prompt start is to achieve a timely finish. All bridge players

are invited to come, play and have fun. Join us!

Pranayama

Weekly – Wednesday from 7 - 8 PM

Jyoti Hegde brings her expertise and knowledge of Pranayama to Ankur community every Wednesday

evening. Pranayama (breath control) is the deep breathing technique of yoga that works wonders in increasing

physical and psychological performance. In Sanskrit, “Prana” means energy or vital force and “yama” means

control. So, in English, this translates to “control of the vital breath”. Pranayama essentially involves three

things: regulating the breath, controlling the vital force, and channelizing the Pranas in the right directions.

This month Ankur Book Club will be discussing “The Difficulty of Being Good” by Gurcharan Das.

Ankur Senior Mixer

Monthly

Ankur members enjoy Silver Innings Mixer every month organized by a generous and dedicated

group of Ankur volunteers who put together an interactive evening for seniors, complete with

interesting activities and a delicious dinner.

Ankur Senior Mixer is on Thursday, June 21st. Evite to follow soon

Place: Weller Park, Montgomery, OH

Activity: Picnic and outdoor games

Time: 7 PM – 10 PM

Backup Venue: In the event of extreme weather forecast as of Wednesday, June 20th 6 PM (highest

temp. above 85 degrees or thunderstorms), Senior Mixer will be at Ankur.

Ankur Activities

Drop-In Center – Homeless Shelter

Monthly – 2nd Wednesday of each month. June 13th

Ankur volunteers provide monthly lunch on 2ndWednesday of every month at The Drop-In Center

which is Greater Cincinnati's largest homeless shelter, located in Over-the-Rhine. Lunch is served to

over 150 homeless people by this group of Ankur volunteers who share duties of making spaghetti,

salad and bringing bread, bananas, cookies or ice cream.

Bollywood Zumba

Weekly – Sunday 9 AM, Starting June 3rd

Jyoti Hegde brings her expertise and experience of dance to Ankur community every Sunday morning for

Bollywood Zumba. Enjoy a great work-out to the tunes of popular Bollywood songs and dance moves with

Jyoti Hegde and get your heart pumping and feet stomping.

May 18thAnkur celebrated Mother's Day with a Mexican Fiesta

There was a huge turn out and guests enjoyed a delicious Mexican dinner, hot bhajias, spicy salsas, fresh fruits, Beer and Margaritas. Special activities for the Mothers: Bollywood Zumba with Jyoti Hegde and Garden Talk by Susan Fox from Natorp’s Lanscape Design Team.

This very enthusiastic and generous group of men once again came together to sponsor dinner and cook for the community in honor of Mothers. Ankur OC and community is very thankful for their awesome teamwork and generosity.

When I was young, my mother once told me that the best cooks in the world

are MEN. I wondered about it for the longest time --- until we got to taste

bhajias, burritos and the rest cooked by men for Mother's Day at Ankur.

Needless to say that the food was delicious and service was exemplary.

On behalf of all participating mothers, please convey our appreciation to the

'whole team' for an excellent Mexican Fiesta dinner !!

Volunteering opportunities are available as an “assistant to teacher” at Bond Hill Academy

School.

Complete flexibility as to how many hours per day/week/month you are willing to put in. No

experience is required, the only requirement is a willingness and desire to help young kids from 1st

grade onwards.

Students interested in helping are also welcome to volunteer after school hours.
