WHAT’S
ON?Jan - Feb - Mar - Apr 2013
to live a life of meaning for themselves. Perhaps most importantly for us we have ‘lost’ the very relationship we were designed to have - our relationship with our heavenly Father.
It was Jesus Himself who declared that He came to seek and to save the lost (Luke 19:10). To find those who were far away from God and restore that relationship. To be the bridge between humanity and God. To show people what God the Father is really like - not harsh and judgemental but loving and compassionate. To make a way possible for people to find their way back to knowing God, to bring the lost home.
There is nothing quite so wonderful as finding something precious, something of great value. Perhaps the find is all the sweeter when the item has been lost to us, when we couldn’t find it no matter how hard we looked and then suddenly it was there. Jesus asks those who have found the wonderful truth of knowing Him, not just to be grateful about the amazing transformation in their own lives but to go back out and help others find their way back.
It is only when we search thatwe truly find.
Roy & Keely MorleySenior Pastors
Have you ever lost something that really mattered? Maybe it was your car keys, or your purse or wallet? Maybe it was your phone! Once you realise something is lost usually you retrace your steps, you go through every room in the house and yet you still can’t find it. There is nothing more frustrating than losing something valuable.
The Bible tells us that Jesus came ‘to seek and to save that which was lost’. He wasn’t talking about iphones or money, He was talking about people, human beings. It can be incredibly frightening to be lost, to not know our bearings, to not know the direction we are heading, to suddenly find ourselves in unfamiliar territory.
Yet when we are not in relationship with God the Bible describes us as ‘lost’. We have ‘lost’ the true understanding of who we are, who we were created to
be. We have ‘lost’ our purpose and go through life simply existing and not really living. Many have ‘lost’ their self worth and sense of value, always living to please everyone else but never really knowing how

2 Sunday morning seriesVision Series
Life’s Big Questions Series
We start 2013 with our vision series. Without vision the church will be aimless, purposeless and unproductive. Do we understand vision? Do we know the vision God has given us as a church? Make sure you come to this four week series in January starting Sunday 6th.
Why is there suffering in the world? Are we created or did we evolve? Is there really a God? These are all questions people in our society ask regularly and we are putting on this series for you to invite your work mates, neighbours and colleagues to hear the answers. This series will be starting on Sunday 17th February which is the week after Rob Joy will be visiting. Rob will be sharing how he came to know Jesus whilst his life was a mess. This series will follow to answer many questions those you invited will have. What great opportunities.
e invite you to join one of our Wg r e a t s m a l l
groups! This year our connect groups will be meeting fortnightly.
Connect groups aree the ideal time to get to know people better, understand the Bible together, connect with the church family and grow spiritually. We are looking at the book of 1 Thessalonians throughout 2013. A powerful New Testament book that will revolutionise the way you live for Jesus.
Simply choose the group you would like to be part of throughout the year and contact the group leaders (a very friendly bunch) to find out when they next meet. It couldn’t be easier. Make a decision for 2013 to be a year of growth, and to be part of the growth of others. Join today.

PRAY
In the busyness of life it is important that we start the year right.
We have set aside a week right at the beginning of 2013 to seek God together, to pray for our community and our nation and its many needs, to pray for our church in both locations, for growth, maturity, function and to pray for the needs of people we know and love.
From Monday 7th to Friday 11th January the church will be open for you to join us in praying together. If you can fast then please do so. There will be three sessions throughout each day:
6:00am-7:00am morning12:30-1:30pm lunchtime7:30-9:00pm evening
James 5:16 states that ‘the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective’. Prayer truly does change situations.Let’s prioritise what matters most - praying for our country, our town and our people.

For all department leaders and connect group leaders - these are key meetings for key leaders.
It is important that we get together regularly to look at how the vision is unfolding, to explore our values, to look at leadership lessons from the Bible, to glean wisdom and experience from other men and women of God. We grow as people and in our function and gifting when we come together. Don’t miss these key dates.
time for DEEPEREvery month we set time aside to just encounter God on a deeper level. A time where we just allow God’s Spirit to move in power. Make sure you come along during 2013 - dates, locations and times on the right. It is time to go deeper.

All across our nation there are hundreds of young men without purpose, without hope and without proper role models. Many of these end up in young offenders prisons, such as Rochester Young Offender Institute. We are running a Christian mentoring programme within Rochester’s unit. Our programme runs on 2 levels:- Ÿ Level 1 - we bring
Christians into the prisons to mentor the lads on a Monday evening (fortnightly).
Ÿ Level 2 - we continue that mentoring when they leave prison.
If you want to get involved as a mentor please email the church or call the office.
Work is definitely underway on our new coffee bar room at the front of the church. We are really looking forward to using this room to connect more with the parents from playschool each day and others in our town. We want to host different events for various groups eg 18-25's nights etc.
We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to serve in the coffee bar - you would need to be friendly and able to engage with people from all walks of life. If you are interested in getting involved please give your name to Esther Hurwood.
We are continuously building our relationship with the staff and residents at The Quays. We help the residents to manage their own allotment, growing vegetables on the grounds. Would you like to get involved with this? You don’t have to have any gardening experience just be willing to learn and chat to people.
This is a great opportunity to build friendships and help in a very practical yet simple way. We really do need some men to get onboard. Even if you can’t go every week but could commit to once a fortnight, or once a month, this would be a tremendous help. See Jane Gadd or Liz Schiff for info.
