Robin Trower, heralded as one of the most influential guitar players to come out of the British Blues Rock scene, will perform at Jackson Rancheria Casino & Hotel Thursday, May 21, at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $40 from Ticketmaster but Dreamcatcher’s Club members can purchase tickets for just $20 at the Jackson Rancheria Box Office. The Box Office is open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and accepts cash, credit cards, and Dreamcatcher’s Club points. Must be 18 to purchase tickets or attend the show.

Robin was tagged by the press with the nickname of “The White Hendrix” back in the ‘70s. Robin was in the audience during a performance by Jimi Hendrix those many years back, and he readily admits that the experience changed his approach to the guitar.

It is obvious to anyone who ever listened to Robin’s music that he has taken the ethereal sound that Jimi first introduced to the world, and created his own unique way of expressing himself through the guitar. The result is a unique style of music all his own - not an imitation of Jimi at all, and a career of considerable merit.

Robin is known for his incredible talent as a guitar player and his inspirational style of soloing, coaxing sounds from his Fender Stratocaster™ that seem to emanate from beyond this world. To be among those who have experienced Robin performing live is to be forever changed by this masterful artist as he takes you along with him on one musical masterpiece after another.

He’s been playing professional since his teen years and in the early stages of his career played with Procol Harum. After the release of their fifth album, “Broken Barricades” Robin struck out on his own with James Dewar and Reg Isadore. The release of his debut album in 1973, “Twice Removed From Yesterday,” heralded the beginning of a career that has spanned four decades and continues vibrantly to this day.

Often described as a “shy and refined gentleman” off-stage, Robin’s presence on stage is remarkably powerful. Not given to “stage theatrics,” his virtuoso ability to impart emotions through song lyrics and highly charged guitar playing is hypnotic. His chording and soloing style have mesmerized fans and confounded guitar players for years, and will continue to be a source of inspiration for anyone who wants to play the guitar.

Like most, his group has changed members throughout the years. The current line-up includes Davey Pattison on lead vocals, Dave Bronze on bass and vocals, and Pete Thompson on drums.

Don’t miss the chance to see this legendary guitarist during his American tour.

Blues legend Charlie Musselwhite will perform at Jackson Rancheria Casino & Hotel on Friday, May 29 at 8 p.m.

Shot through with attitude, the songs on Musselwhite’s latest CD “Delta Hardware” feel rough-hewn and tough, just as they should for a guy “born in Mississippi and raised up in Tennessee.” Charlie cuts loose a good time in Clarksdale, pipes up

for the downtrodden, and gives a lover the ol’ heave-ho. This is raw, passionate music from a howlin’ blues legend who’s still invigorated by a youthful spirit.

It’s Charlie’s mix of wild country abandon seasoned by years of playing

urban electric blues in Chicago that spurs the likes of Ben Harper, Tom Waits and Gov’t Mule to welcome Musselwhite onto their stages and records. That same brash, blues/rock rebel vibe was Dan Aykroyd’s

inspiration for his Elwood Blues persona, and

it’s what has won Musselwhite a pile of blues awards and earned the

admiration and respect of his own heroes - Howlin’ Wolf, John Lee Hooker, and

The popular Dinner & a Movie series continues with “Rebel Without a Cause” this month and “American Graffiti” in June.

There may still be a few tickets available for the May 6 event featuring the iconic “Rebel Without a Cause,” a 1955 film starring James Dean, Sal Mineo, and Natalie Wood.

The film tells the story of a rebellious teenager played by James Dean, who comes to a new town, meets a girl, defies his parents, and faces the local high school bullies. It sought to portray the existing decay of youth in middle America, critique parental style, and expose the rift between two generations.

Others appearing in the film include Jim Backus, William Hopper, and Dennis Hopper. Much of “Rebel” was filmed at Santa Monica High School and Griffith Park Observatory in Southern California. The 1949 Mercury Coupe James Dean drove in the movie is part of the permanent collection at the National Automobile Museum in Reno.

All three of the main stars died under tragic circumstances. Dean was killed in a traffic accident just months after filming “Rebel” at age 24, Mineo was murdered in 1976 at age 37, and Wood drowned in 1981 at 43.

Reserve your seats now for the June 3 event with the classic 1973 film “American Graffiti.”

“American Graffiti” tells the story of the last night of summer 1962 and teenagers in Modesto who want to have some fun before adult responsibilities close in.

Among them are Steve (Ron Howard) and Curt (Richard Dreyfuss), college-bound with mixed feelings about leaving

home; nerdy Terry “The Toad” (Charles Martin Smith), who scores a dream date with blonde Debbie (Candy Clark); and John (Paul Le Mat ), a 22-year-old drag racer who wonders how much longer he can stay champion and how he got stuck with 13-year-old Carol (Mackenzie Phillips) in his deuce coupe, and Bob (Harrison Ford) a Stetson wearing street racer.

Instead of an original soundtrack, the movie features DJ Wolfman Jack as

himself playing 41 actual rock & roll records on the radio, including hits by Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, the Beach Boys, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, Fats Domino, and many more.

Although the story is set in Modesto, Director/Writer George Lucas felt the city had changed too much during the 1960s. Filming started in San Rafael, but when

the city withdrew filming permissions, production moved to Petaluma, with some scenes set in other Northern California cities.

Call 800-822-WINN to check on availability and reserve your seats. Both events include a buffet dinner and the movie, and are from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the Grand Oak Ballroom.

For Elite and VIP Dreamcatcher’s Club members, the events are free and you’ll receive $20 in Promo Slot Play.

All others can choose between two packages:The $70 package includes dinner for

two, a hotel room (subject to availability), the movie, plus $20 Promo Slot Play per personThe $20 per person package

includes the dinner, movie, and $20 Promo Slot Play

Seating is limited and these events tend to sell out fast, so RSVP to 800-822-WINN today to reserve your place.

Muddy Waters. John Lee was even the best man at Charlie’s wedding.

Musselwhite’s version of the blues ventures far beyond conventional honky-tonk. He has what it takes to rock the house. Musselwhite himself is simply interested in music with feeling, as he puts it, “music from the heart. For me, it’s about the feeling, and connecting with people. And blues, if it’s real blues, is loaded with feeling. And it ain’t about technique either, it’s about truth, connecting to the truth and communicating with people.”

That connection has been particularly strong with his fans from the start. “I’ve had Vietnam vets tell me that my music was important to them while they were in Vietnam. I’ve had people who’ve had problems with alcohol talk to me about quitting, and tell me that I inspired them to quit. I’ve had couples tell me that they met at one of my shows and got married years after.”

With his latest CD, Musselwhite says simply, “I’m keepin’ it real. For the listener, I hope it’s like a journey, I hope each tune takes ‘em to another little place, and I hope

Barsetti VineyardsRichard Gray and Janis Barsettti

Gray both had very different careers before opening the vineyard. He worked for United Airline at Seattle Tacoma International Airport for 34 years and she worked for Hertz Corporation at Sacramento International Airport for 35 years.

Janis and Richard own 120 acres of zinfandel in the Lodi Appellation east of Galt. Her father and grandparents bought the property in 1941. Up until 1995, when the vineyard was planted, the land supported a dairy, beef cattle, and crop operation. The birth of Barsetti Vineyards as a wine label began in 2001. Today they produce Pinot Grigio, Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Merlot.

Bray VineyardsOliver and Robin Bray established

Bray Vineyards in 1996 when the land was purchased from an estate. It had no roads or utilities and consisted only of grass, cattle, and oak trees. A seasonal creek crosses the property with mining excavations left over from the Gold Rush days.

The land has been cleared in such a way as to maintain several centuries-old oak trees and many younger oak trees on the property. A habitat for hawks and owls is maintained for rodent control and bats are encouraged to keep mosquitoes and other insects to a minimum. Olive trees are planted along the roads and are harvested for olives and olive oil production.

Their 19 varietals include Barbera, Verdelho, Viognier, and Sangiovese.

Bodega del Sur Winery

Bodega del Sur is the culmination of a dream of Evelyn and Victor Reyes-Umana. Victor began his love

affair with wine in his native El Salvador.

Visits to Spain and France intensified the dream. In the spring of 2007, the opportunity arose to purchase a winery in Calaveras County, and they decided to take the plunge. This was the perfect location. Not

only was it near their summer home in Arnold, but also, Victor realized the grape growing region of the Sierra foothills mimicked those of Chile, Argentina and Spain, among others.

Located at 3,300 feet above sea level, Brice Station is one of the highest elevation vineyards in California. Irish VineyardsIn 1998, the Irish family left the

Valley in pursuit of their dreams, hoping to find a quaint location where they could raise their children and build a winery. The small town of Vallecito had both, and the historic Batten house became the foundation on which this dream would grow.

The Batten farmhouse, built in 1867, offered the family a new beginning, and the 8.3 acres was the perfect place to plant grapes and start their winery.

Renwood WineryRenwood Winery has been called

a “tour de force” in winemaking. The estate vineyard, located on the hill behind the winery, is home to America’s oldest clone of Zinfandel. Grandpère® Zinfandel was presumably planted in the 1850’s and legend has it Mark Twain used to enjoy Grandpère® Zinfandel during his years in the Sierra Foothills.

Renwood’s production has grown from 2,500 cases in 1993 to over 100,000 cases today. Renwood produces consistently exceptional wines covering the spectrum from big, bold, jammy Zins to wonderfully balanced Syrahs and Barberas. Today they produce over 18 different wines, including two proprietary wines, three vineyard designated wines, six Amador County wines, four Red Label wines and three Dessert wines.

Willow Creek began as a brain child of Kevin Smith, who for years dreamed of owning a winery and making traditional Portuguese style Ports. When he finally bought enough grapes to make one barrel in his Mokelumne Hill lab, his friends were impressed with how good it was.

In addition to Obra-Prima, a Portuguese style red, they also produce Cabernet Franc, Petite Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Po House Red, and, of course, vintage Port.

Cecchetti Olive OilCecchetti’s Manzanillo olive tress

have been growing on West Sargent Road in Lodi for more than 100 years. They are dry farmed and set among the finest vineyards in Lodi.

The oil has a unique fruity flavor, according to George Cecchetti, because of the other fruits that grow near the trees. The trees are dry farmed, not directly watered, so they pick up water from the nearby grapevines and fruit trees. The oil is also unfiltered, which gives it a murky appearance but boosts its robust flavor.

Jackson Rancheria proudly supports the American Hearth Association and their go Red for Women campaign.

The goal of Go Red is a 25% reduction in coronary hearth disease and stroke risk by the year 2010.

The campaign is working hard to change the perception that heart disease is a “man’s disease.” And it’s working! By teaching more and more women how to talk to their doctors about heart disease, we can save thousands of lives every year. Because the good news is that heart disease is often preventable.

J a c k s o n Rancheria Style isn’t something we try to define. We prefer to demonstrate it in everything we do to make Jackson Rancheria a place where you want to meet your friends in a fun and friendly, comfortable and safe environment.

Here are just a few recent examples of Jackson Rancheria Style service.

William Hughes, one of our Executive Chauffeurs, was on his way to work one night, where he was to attend a party for some of our Elite players.

On his way he saw a car by the side of the road with a flat tire and an older couple clearly in need of assistance. William immediately stopped and helped them change the tire, discovering as he did so that they were on their way to the casino.

Later that night while Luxury Transportation Manager Mary Rutherford was greeting people at the Elite party, one woman made a point of telling her about a wonderful young man who had helped change a tire on the way to the party.

Yeah, it was the same couple William had helped, not knowing who they were, just that they were in need.

Then there is this email we received: “My friends and I were traveling from the

Lake Tahoe area to Sacramento and stopped at your gas station to use the restrooms and grab a snack. My friends and I were amazed at the cleanliness of

your facility as well as how courteous the staff was.”

“I have visited many gas stations in my lifetime, but I have never felt compelled to write one to thank them for the wonderful experience. Thank you again, Russ.”

Sandra Y. sent an email about three favorite employees, Connie Noble, Emilia Munoz and Sandra Abbott. “The feeling I get from these three employees is a special feeling. I feel that I am part of the family and it’s because of these three employees. I usually get greeted as soon as I walk in the front door, by my first name, with a small conversation, and just a lucky feeling as I wander off to my favorite machine. Usually one or two of these employees will find me and stop just to see how I’m doing and wish me luck. I have never gotten that from anyone else ever from any other casino. All three of them should be wearing special pins and gold metals around their neck.”

And James in Stockton sent this. “[Last Fall] son and I went fishing at

Camanche Reservoir. We fished all day. While there I lost my cell phone a ways out off a point where we were fishing. Mind you the water level was very low and you could drive out pretty far, which my son and I did.

“Before we got home my wife called me to plan dinner. When low and behold, someone else answered my phone. My wife explained when I returned home that I had lost my phone and a very, very nice person answered when she called. That person explained they would wait until I returned to claim the phone.

“I explained that it would take at the least 45 minutes before I could return. The young lady on the other end said cheerfully, ‘I’ll wait here until you come back.’

“After returning to the lake I met this

One of the largest towns in the foothills during California’s Gold Rush, Drytown, which was never “dry,” had hotels and saloons to accommodate thousands of 49ers. Today it’s much smaller, but a lot more hospitable. And yesterday’s wine cannot compare to what visitors find here today - delicious, bold reds and bright, fruity whites.

Owner and winemaker Allen Kreutzer produces some of the very best wines from Amador County and Sierra Foothill fruit - zesty Zinfandels, bold Barberas, smooth Syrahs, and savory Sauvignon Blancs, to name just a few.

The modern facility is built on the old Vaira Ranch site, on historic State Highway 49, complete with the original barn and ranch home. Come enjoy the bucolic view, taste the delicious wines, and visit with these folks.

Drytown Cellars is the brainchild of Allen Kreutzer, a veteran of winemaking and vineyard management. He earned his BS in Fermentation Science at UC Davis in 1980, and after stints as a cellar rat and mobile wine bottler with the pioneer Chateau Bottlers, he started making wine with Pedrizzetti in Morgan Hill.

Allen obtained a Masters degree in Agricultural Chemistry from Fresno State in 1990. Over the years, Allen has worked for a number of wineries, either in winemaker positions or as consulting enologist, including Washington Hills Cellars in the Yakima Valley and Charles Mitchell Winery in Fairplay. He has worked at Kirigin Cellars in Gilroy for the past 15 years, first for owner Nicholas Kirigin and now under the new ownership.

In addition to his passion for wine, he has a passion for music. A lifelong drummer, he has played with the rhythm and blues band, The Firebirds, based in Santa Cruz County, for two decades. You can see the band in various venues across California, or catch them at the winery - the

band entertains at most winery events. The tasting room is open Friday

through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
