(RMS pink slip is acceptable).

in addition to attendances at authorised Club Outings.
Owners will be required to maintain a Log Book showing the date, time and departure location for each
day that the vehicle is used. (Failure to maintain an accurate and up-to-date daily record could mean
severe consequences for the member and our club!)

CASINO BEEF WEEK SHOW & SHINE 28TH
MAY 2016
After an early start on a brisk windy but fine day we travelled in convoy from South Lismore to Casino. Club
members then had breakfast/coffee at local establishments before checking out the vehicles at the event. A great
roll up of 16 cars from our club attended and again it is very pleasing to observe the great range of first class
cars that exist within the club.
There was a large variety of cars attending the show & shine. Many members took the opportunity to visit the
various stalls and functions that were held. A steady flow of members of the public examined the cars
throughout the day with some notable unusual vehicles from far and wide.
The Trophy presentation after lunch saw club member Ken Bryce awarded a prize for the Best late Classic Car
of the show & shine event (see photo on front page). Ken had his Supercharged 2002 Jaguar XKR beautifully
presented. Congratulations Ken. Overall a great day in Casino was had by all. Jeff Johnston

COFFEE RUN TO KYOGLE—8TH
JUNE 2016
The sunshine after our heavy bout of rain bought out our best attendance ever on a coffee run. The run to the
Sugarbowl Café at Kyogle was with 18 cars and 33 people. What a great turnout and thanks to all who attended
in making it such a successful day.
We left Goonellabah and travelled through Lismore onto the Kyogle road (Casino St) to journey out to Kyogle.
Despite our best efforts confusion reigned and we had ‘lost’ a few before we had even left the City limits.
Thankfully everyone managed to regroup in some manner and we met up successfully at Kyogle.
A very enjoyable morning tea was enjoyed by all followed by a short time looking at the local shops by many
attendees. Part of the group then returned to Lismore via Casino with some great rural outlooks along the way.
Overall a very enjoyable run was had by all. Jeff Johnston

“FRENCH RUN” - Sunday 21st AUGUST 2016
The Combined Summerland and Queensland Peugeot Car Clubs French Run will take place on Sunday 21st August, starting at 10.15am. It will follow the past enjoyable format beginning with morning tea at Budd Park, venturing into the Tweed valley and ending with lunch at a local pub. Budd Park is located next to the tourist Information Centre just off Tweed Valley Way, Murwillumbah. David and Gayl will supply a French version of morning tea in the park: frogs, snails, fromages and baguettes etc. Just bring you own tea and/or coffee. The drive through the Tweed valley will be accompanied by a selection of very easy observation questions, in very poor Pigeon French. As much of the fun is in the translation as in the driving. A knowledge of French language is not particularly helpful. This is a highly uncompetitive event, with prizes awarded the best French themed car and/or driver and randomly for the observation run at the adjudicator’s whim
Lunch will be at your own expense at a local Murwillumbah venue. We hope you will be able to join us to make it a great day. You don’t require a dictionary, just some imagination, and a sense of humour.
COFFEE RUN WEDNESDAY, 13TH JULY
La Baracca, Keen St, Lismore is our destination for next month’s coffee run. Therefore we shall be
going on a nice scenic route to end up where we started from. Can members meet at John Crowther
carpark (not Goonellabah as usual) at 8.30am for a 8.45am start.
If any members cannot go on the run but wish to have coffee, it has been booked for 10am. Parking
should be readily available in the Harvey Norman carpark when we return from our sightseeing.

RACQ MotorFest 2016
More than 500 prestige, classic and collectors’ vehicles will be on display at Ascots Eagle Farm Racecourse on July
10, from 10.00am to 3.00pm.
The day includes plenty of family fun with roving entertainment, children’s rides and the Eagle Farm Markets
selling fresh food and homewares.
This year is the 100th anniversary of BMW and the 50th anniversary of Toyota Corolla.
The BMW Club Queensland is staging a display of 100 ‘polished to perfection’ automobiles dating from the early
1930s to the latest vehicles straight off the factory floor.
One of the display highlights will be a car known to BMW Club members as the ‘Batmobile’ owned by Robert
Battle. It is a 3.0 CSL that takes its name from its full aero package of big wings and flares. It is a replica tribute to
the very successful European racing car.
Another standout is the sleek black and gold 1986 Jim Richards JPS sponsored 635 CSI from Bowdens. It has been
described as one of the most beautiful and perhaps most famous BMW vehicles raced in Australia.
The Corolla was introduced in 1996 as a modest rear-drive compact. It has sold 43.1 million and is still selling.
Entry is by Gold Coin and includes entry into the Eagle Farm Markets. Funds raised support the RACQ’s
community rescue helicopters.
See the MotorFest webpage at racq.com/motorfest for more information.
