On July 1, Electric and otherutility workers will be protectedby Tennessee’s Move Overlaw.

The next time you see anelectric utility vehicle working onthe side of the road, slow downand give it room. The workerswill appreciate your courtesy, and a new Tennessee law re-quires it. Tennessee’s MoveOver law now includes electricand other utility vehicles. Police, fire and highway constructionvehicles were already coveredbefore the law’s expansion.

Effective July 1, motoristsapproaching a utility vehicle withflashing lights are required tomove over if safe to do so, cre-ating an empty lane buffer. When changing lanes is not

possible, motorists must reducespeed.

Roadway crashes are theleading cause of occupationalfatalities in the United States. The Tennessee Department ofSafety reports that more than100 highway and street con-struction workers are killed eachyear as a result of vehiclecrashes or equipment acci-dents on the job. Another20,000 are injured.

The Tennessee law is thefirst-of-its-kind in the country.North Carolina’s Move Over lawincludes utility workers but onlyduring emergency situationssuch as storm restoration.Tennessee’s law applies any-time utility vehicles are workingwith flashing lights.

Who Can Lead the Economy to Recovery? It’s Not the GOP or the Dems – It’s CEOs

by Mark FaustMark Faust is tired of

hearing politicians complainabout President Obama,Obama complain aboutCongress and Congresscomplain about taxes whenit comes to the stutteringeconomic recovery.

“The truth is that none ofthese people have thatmuch to do with the growthof our economy,” said Faust, founder of Echelon Manage-

ment and author of Growthor Bust! Proven TurnaroundStrategies to Grow YourBusiness (www.echelonmanagement.com). “Taxand monetary policy can in-fluence growth, but the onusis on business leadership totake steps now. It’s the lead-ers in business whose shoul-ders prop up the economy, and while they tend to beeven more demonized thanpoliticians these days, theyare the ones who hold oureconomic salvation in theirhands. The leaders of com-panies are on the front linesof an international economicwar. Their chief strategy tofight this war must begin toencompass a mindset thatincludes a turnaround men-tality to put every facet ofAmerican business into anaccelerated growth mode.As in war, failure is not anoption, and there is only onemission for business leader-ship at this time – growth.”

Faust, who has consultedfor many major blue-chipcorporations such as Proc-tor & Gamble, IBM,Monsanto, Apple, Syngenta,Bayer and John Deere, be-lieves that business leadershave a far greater responsi-

bility to Americans than anyelected official, and now isthe time to own up to thatresponsibility.

“The fate of the jobless, families and children are lit-erally in the hands of busi-ness leadership,” he added.“To not accelerate growthand innovation is to aban-don those in dire need. OurC-level executives must be-gin to adopt the attitude thattolerating mediocrity in theirleadership and growth is asin. In a free market, the re-cession is a burden on thepeople, but a blessing tobusiness, because it eradi-cates complacency, whichis the opposite of innovationand true growth. It also de-stroys the enemy of growthand innovation: hubris andpride. It gleans the herd inbusiness, which can some-times have short-term rami-fications for everyone, but inthe long run it creates jobs, opens opportunity andstrengthens the economy asa whole.”

CEOs should be heldresponsible for their roles asleaders, moreso than evenpoliticians, according toFaust.

Touch2O® And New Touch2O.XT™Technologies Introduced to the Bathroom

When Delta Faucet intro-duced Touch2O® Technol-ogy in 2008, it revolutionizedthe kitchen faucet experi-ence. Born of ethnographicresearch and human behav-ior studies, Touch2O Tech-nology satisfied an unmetand unarticulated need to

enhance the way users turnon the faucet with messyhands and turn off the wa-ter when water is not neededbetween tasks.

"Almost immediately af-ter we launched Touch2OTechnology for the kitchen, consumers wanted a similar

solution for the home bath-room," said ScottCollevechio, Delta brandproduct manager. "Our de-signers and engineers ulti-mately landed on two op-tions that help homeownersuse water more intuitively inthe bathroom with less mess and hassle."

Lavatory faucets from theTalbottTM and Lahara®bath collections are nowavailable with Touch2OTechnology, allowing theuser to tap the faucet on oroff anywhere on the spout orhandle. For an even cleanerexperience, Addison® andLahara® models featureTouch2O.xtTM Technology -"xt" for extra technology -that also offer an entirelyhands-free experience.

About Delta® LavatoryFaucets with Touch2O andTouch2O.xtTM Technology:

Three operation modes:In manual operation, the

user can control the flow andtemperature of water bymoving the handle to thedesired position

With Touch2O functional-ity, the user can tap any-where on the spout orhandle to start or stop theflow of water. Water turns offautomatically within oneminute on the lavatory afterthe faucet is tapped on.

With Touch2O.xt Tech-nology, the user can alsohave an entirely hands-freeexperience in addition to theTouch2O tap functionality.

Touch2OxtTM Technologyfeatures a 4" sensing fieldaround the entire faucet. The faucet automatically re-sponds when user ap-proaches the sensing field -no infrared sensor is used.Moving hands out of rangeintuitively shuts off the wa-ter flow within seconds whennot needed, helping to savewater. When hands aremessy, you can start the flowof water without touching thefaucet, helping keep youand your bathroom cleaner.

LED mode indicator: BlueLED flashes to indicate thatthe faucet is in hands-freemode and remains constantto indicate the touch featureis activated. It turns redwhen batteries need to bereplaced. Requires 4 AAbatteries. Under normal op-eration, batteries should lastapproximately 18 months.

Other Features:WaterSense® La-

beled[1]: Delta Faucet Com-pany takes its role as aWaterSense® partner veryseriously and is committedto working with the EPA toencourage efficient use ofwater resources and ac-tively protect the future ofour nation's water supply.WaterSense labeled lavato-ries from Delta Faucet use32 percent less† water andperform as well or betterthan their less efficient coun-terparts.

SWAhighlighted by 74 manufac-turer and rep companiesand 35 wholesale compa-nies. SWA also saw a soar-ing number of spouses mov-ing up from 73 last year to110 this year.

Those who attendedwere not disappointed be-ginning with a social net-working seminar presentedby Todd McDonogh of theMad Dog Group. Partici-pants learned about the fun-damental application of so-cial network media coupledwith the practical applica-tion and power of the toolto bolster sales and mar-keting efforts.

This was followed upwith best practices ses-sions that focused on theareas of marketing, sales, purchas ing and bes tpractices. It was said byone participant, “It wasgreat to hear the perspec-tive of each member ofthe supply chain as wewrestled with real day today issues in the plumb-ing wholesaler ’s busi -nesses. This new per-spective gives me a bet-ter understanding of theirchallenges and a practi-cal understanding of howI can he lp and be o fgreater value to them.”

The even t rea l l yheated up when DavidKohler of the Kohler Com-pany took the stage andgave his perspective onthe event’s focus whichwas “Success by Choice,Not by Chance .” Mr.Kohler shared many ofthe values and strategicthinking practices thatKohler has used throughthe years which have po-sitioned them as an indus-try leader. While therewere many great points inhis presentation, his com-ment about being inten-tional in pursuing goalstha t a re measurab lestood out as a major keyto success.

The event also had pro-vided manufacturers andreps structured time tomeet wi th wholesalersand unstructured time tobuild relationships. Thestructured meetings al-lowed the manufacturersand reps opportunity forvery focused and t imelimited meetings. This for-mat was pra ised as amuch more product ivemeans of doing businessand having a mid-yearcheckup.

It was not all work andno play. The golf tourna-ment was well attendedwith 80 golfers strikingtrees, ponds and the oc-cas iona l fa i rway andgreen. The spouses hadan afternoon party andthe kids played in thepools and on the beach. It is amazing to see howmany spouses have got-ten to know each otherover the years. It has be-come fairly common for

spouses to talk monthsprior to the event to makesure each other is attend-ing and p lan t ime to -gether.

The grand finale was aclosing party that cel-ebrated the career of atrue friend of SWA andthe indus t r y. J imWhiteherse of BrasscraftManufacturing has retiredand was invited to theevent as a guest of honor.Throughout the event he

was celebrated with twolife size photo stand-upsmaking the rounds at ev-ery event. At the closingparty, he was roasted andwas praised for his faith-ful commitment to SWAand the influence he hashad on so many people inour industry.

As a final note, manu-facturer support throughsponsorships was at a 10-year high and the eventwould not be possible

without the commitmentof so many. If you did notattend this year’s event, you missed out and the in-dustry is moving forwardwithout you. There is ev-ery indication the eventwill grow even more andSWA is planning for nextyear a t the Baypo in tMarriott in Panama CityFlorida, June 24-26, 2012.Make sure you plan toattend, you will not regretit!
