Intro to Course Planning:

How to stay out of trouble

Treat your studying as a job. Put in 40-50 hours a week.

Rule of Thumb: 3-4 hours a week per credit hour

Balance your course load so time can be evenly divided.

If having difficulty in ESI 4327C, do not take OR1 and OR2 together.

If having difficulty in VB.Net, do not take DSS and WebDSS together.

Intro to Course Planning:

Financial Consequences

If you drop a class, then must pay back Bright Futures for those number

of credit hours (even if become part time student)

If you take a class for the third time, then you will be charged double

tuition

If drop/withdraw from a class then that counts toward your total

number of hours (careful with excess hours charge)

Page 18: ISE Own It

Intro to Course Planning:

Incomplete

Must have a valid reason

“I am about to fail the course” is NOT a valid reason

Does not mean “Do over”

Next semester, the student completes only the missing assignment,

not all the assignments

An “I” grade must be taken care of the next semester; otherwise it

automatically becomes an “E”

Declaring Minors

All critical tracking courses should be completed before

you take classes that applies toward a minor!

Minors do not add more credit hours to your allowed surcharge.

Generally, most programs say that you need 45 credit hours before you can apply for a minor but you should apply before 100 hours.

Ms. Nemeth will need to sign the Application to Add a Minor form to generate

the process. (Students on probation can not apply for a minor.)

Page 21: ISE Own It

UF Policies

All students must complete their last 30 credit hours at UF

What is the Excess Hour Surcharge?

Students will have to pay double the amount for each credit hour

over their allotted credit hours for the degree.

The ISE degree is 125 credit hours. 110% of 125 semester hours is the

allotted number of credits given before you go into excess hours, so

approximately 14 hours added to 125. All drops, withdrawals,

classes failed or taken over due to a C- or lower apply to the excess

hours.
