But once a year (at least) we try to have a global departmental meeting in person. And it really clears the air.
Once can often see that what looked like someone being rude or restrictive online was merely a bad translation of cultural differences.
It makes things a lot more productive to be able to look and talk to people, both officially and in casual moments.
