Is poor quality oil causing your engine to overheat?

Pure, concentrated fish oil is one of the most important addi-tions modern people can make in their daily health programs. Hundreds of studies show that supplementation with omega-3 fatty acids supports the mind, the heart, the kidneys, the joints, the immune system…the entire body. Rarely does a nutrient so powerfully and positively impact the human body.

But if you’re using low-grade omega-3 oils, you may not be receiv-ing the full benefits of this important nutrient. Just as a car’s performance declines with low-quality oil, so does yours.

Highest StandardsDo we have to go to the ends of the Earth—quite literally—for the best omega-3 fish oils? Yes, as a matter of fact, we do. And our commitment to quality doesn’t stop at searching the world’s oceans for the cleanest, most abundant sources of the highest-quality fish. The quality of the omega-3 fish oils and their benefits to your body depend on the purity and freshness of the oil in all phases of its manufacturing and production. Our bottling and encapsulation processes follow the highest standards, meeting and exceeding purity standards and pharmaceutical protocol of the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Our commitment to quality ensures that you have the finest, purest, most potent oils available.

Historic Benefits Confirmed by ResearchRecent appreciation of fish oils arose from studies of the Inuit peoples of

Greenland, whose health had long puzzled health researchers. The Inuit diet is the opposite of what we commonly think of as healthy—no fresh vegetables or fruits, little fiber, a diet heavily composed of proteins and fats. But the people are relatively quite healthy.

Danish investigators were the first to determine that the key to Inuit health was the omega-3 fatty acids from the Inuit’s fish-laden diet. That research from the 70s sparked worldwide fascination with the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids. Current research of fish oils and omega-3 properties continues, but now, as researchers understand the compounds more fully, the benefits of omega-3 fish oils are confirmed: fish oils offer astonishing benefits to the circulatory system, to the brain, and to the immune system. Fish oil is among the most important additions modern people can make in their dietary regimen.

Pollution Has Made Much Seafood ToxicYet just as Americans have begun to eat more seafood, studies have shown that fishes from numerous sources are unsafe because of high amounts of heavy metals, particularly mercury, and PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyl—poisonous compounds often found in industrial waste). Modern practices such as dredging, processing fossil fuels, smelting, and fish farming have all contributed to the poisoning of the Earth’s waters. Unless you are quite sure

of the purity of the water where they were caught, eating fish to obtain the benefits of natural fish oils is, sadly, a difficult choice.

Source Naturals offers you the benefits of healthy fish oils, from fishes caught in the Arctic Ocean, the North Sea, the North Atlantic, and other clean bodies of water, then processed with unique distillation methods to extract and further purify the oils. The ArcticPure fish oil products are among the purest oils available, with superior product stability. Natural f lavorings give our ArcticPure™ oils a taste that is pleasing to both children and adults.

Compare our oils to others. If your oil smells rancid—the “fishy” smell many people complain of—you are not receiving fresh, pure fish oil, and you are robbing your body of nutrients. Fish oil is prone to spoilage and oxidation by exposure to oxygen; if the omega-3 oils in your supplement smell “fishy” they are oxidized and they may have become partially rancid—limiting their usefulness to your body. Extraordinary measures must be taken to keep oxidation of the oils at the barest minimum.

Unique Processing and EncapsulationSource Naturals ArcticPure™ fish oils are processed and encapsulated at state-of-the-art, pharmaceutically licensed laboratories in Norway, just below the Arctic Circle, and in Canada, at a pharmaceutically licensed, cGMP laboratory in Nova Scotia. The purity standards meet and exceed all international requirements, including those of the U.S., Canada, and Europe. The raw material is chromatographically tested using international protocols. Oils that meet the standards for purity then

undergo a molecular distillation process and an organic filtration process. These processes further purify the oils from PCBs, metals, dioxins, or pesticides. The distillation concentrates the omega-3 components while eliminating oxidative compounds. Fish smells and other microscopic impurities are removed in a low-temperature vacuum process.

The bottling or encapsulation is completed onsite, at the points of manufacture. This is done in a low-temperature, oxygen-free environment so the oil is not oxidized. This ensures that the freshness of the products is sealed and cannot be contaminated in the bottling process.

The distillation and cold-vacuum processes ensure a fresh product, and

natural f lavorings are then added. “Fish taste” and “repeating,” two of the traditional criticisms of fish oils, as well as rancidity—the natural quick spoilage of oil when it meets oxygen—have been eliminated with these state-of-the art processes. These combine to make Source Naturals ArcticPure™ among the purest, finest fish oils available worldwide.

The Essential Fatty AcidsOmega-3, omega-6, omega-9, omega-18—if you’re like many Americans, you’ve heard these mentioned again and again and still don’t understand why they’re important. Simply stated, the essential “omega” fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6 are needed for regulating blood pressure and brain function. The fatty acids are critically essential in the following key areas:

Omega-3 and omega-6 are called “essential” fatty acids because they are not produced naturally by the body; you must obtain them from food sources. Most Americans get more omega-6 than they can handle, because omega-6 is from corn oil, sunflower oil, and safflower oil—more than abundant in typical American diets. However, we have severe deficiencies of omega-3, which is from fatty fish and to a limited extent, f lax seed oil. Most medical experts consider an optimal omega-6/omega-3 ratio to be 2:1 or even 1:1. Americans commonly range from the 10:1 to the 50:1 ratio.

This unbalanced ratio has important consequences. Omega-6s and omega-3s compete for the same metabolic enzymes, enzymes that break down fats. If there is too much omega-6 in the diet, too many omega-6 byproducts are produced, including compounds called eicosanoids that are involved in inflammatory response: prostaglandin E-2, thromboxane A-2, and leukotriene B4. Eicosanoids participate in the healthy immune defense systems of the body, but an overabundance of these compounds can overstimulate inf lammatory responses. Omega-3,

however, produces compounds that minimize inf lammatory response. These are the long-chain compounds that have been found to have such positive effect in cardio, brain, and immune function health. A balance of omega 3 and 6 is needed; sufficient quantities of omega-3 keep the omega-6 acids in their proper, healthy ratio.

Meet the Omega 3sThe omega-3s balance the omega-6s in many functions, but they also have importance on their own. Omega-3s are an essential part of the structure of every cell in the body as an integral component of the cell membrane. This cell integrity enables each cell to accomplish its function. Omega-3s

are part of the body’s internal message communication system. Without them, hormones that deliver important messages from the brain and glands can not instruct the DNA on what action to take or what compounds to make. Most hormones cannot enter the cell; instead they dock on the outer cell membrane, converting the fatty acid present into certain prostaglandins, intracellular, hormone-like compounds that relay the instruction of the hormone to the DNA in the nucleus of the cell. The DNA then begins the process of producing the relevant proteins, enzymes, and other compounds to enable the body and mind to further function in good health. Omega-3s enable the body to function in all its amazing intricacy and multi-leveled beauty.

DHA and EPATwo of the omega-3 acids that have the greatest importance to human health are: Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) and Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA). Although these two wonder-acids can be formed by the metabolism of alpha-linolenic acid from plants, the process of conversion is slow and only 15 percent of the alpha-linolenic acid is properly metabolized. But EPA and DHA are found in rich quantities in fish oil, where the metabolizing and conversions have already been completed. These two acids are synthesized from ocean phytoplankton, which are the first links in the food chain of fishes.

DHA is a primary part of the nerve cell membranes that influence the proper activity of neurological transmitters. DHA is a key to a healthy mood and retinal health. It is also recommended for pre-natal nutrition, as it is essential for the growth and functional development of the fetal and infant brain and visual system.

EPA assists in thinning our blood and dilating blood vessels. It is the fatty acid most associated with a healthy cardiovascular system, and it regulates the 1- and 3-series thromboxanes, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes, chemical mediators that help regulate physiological processes including blood pressure and blood clotting.

DHA and EPA together support heart health by enhancing nitric oxide production, which helps keep the blood vessels flexible. Both EPA and DHA inhibit 2- and 4-series interleukens and prostaglandins, compounds associated with overstimulation of inflammatory response. Both EPA and DHA inhibit low density lipoprotein synthesis in the liver, thereby supporting healthy circulation.

DHA and EPA influence our genetic expression toward good health. This complicated process, called gene regulation, actually stimulates our DNA toward good health. In its resting state, DNA is coiled around proteins called histones and resides in the nucleus of the cell. EPA and DHA can trigger certain proteins to go into the nucleus and unwind specific areas of the DNA that contain the coded templates for different functions. Once unraveled, the DNA double strand is “un-zipped.”

The DNA message is transcribed onto messenger Ribonucleic Acid (mRNA) which transfers the DNA instructions to the cell on what proteins to produce or what healthy actions to take.

The omega-3s are among the most important compounds you can take for supporting a healthy heart. EPA and DHA have been shown to reduce resting heart rate and increase left ventricular filling capacity. Omega-3 fatty acids produce healthy eicosanoids, like prostaglandins E-1 and E-3, leukotriene B-5 and thromboxane A-3, compounds that support healthy arteries. Fish oil enhances nitric oxide production, which promotes blood vessel relaxation. Arterial elasticity is increased with both EPA and DHA supplementation.

EPA and DHA also stimulate fatty acid oxidation in the liver by increasing transcription of regulatory enzymes.

Studies also show substantial lowering of triglyceride levels with fish oil supplementation.Source Naturals offers EPA/DHA in one liquid and three softgel forms. All three have very high potencies of omega-3s per serving, ranging from 800-850 mg per serving. Please note, many brands advertise 1000 or 1200 mg of fish oil per capsule, but typically, half or less of the oil is actually omega-3. Make sure to read the label to see how much omega-3s are there; many brands use filler oil that has no health benefits. ArcticPure™ Ultra Potency supplies our highest potency of EPA and DHA, a remarkable 850 mg of omega-3s per softgel, more than any leading brand. ArcticPure™ Lemon Flavored has a pleasing taste; ArcticPure™ Enteric Coated is encapsulated to dissolve more slowly, bringing the benefits of the oil specifically to the small intestine with no fishy aftertaste. This can bring targeted relief to people experiencing disruption in their digestive tracts. All three are available in softgel form. ArcticPure™ Omega-3 Fish Oil with EPA and DHA is a high-potency liquid with a lemon flavor that is pleasing to adults and children.

EPAArcticPure™ EPALemon Flavor Softgels, 500mgStudies show that EPA may provide cardiovascular and joint support, and ArcticPure EPA contains protective antioxidants (ascorbyl palmitate, mixed tocopherols, and rosemary extract). It has a delicious lemon taste. It has a very high potency, 500 mg per capsule.

DHA

ArcticPure™ DHAOmega-3 Fish Oil for Healthy Brain Function

It has been stated in so many ways, for so many years, but let’s say it once more: Fish is brain food. More specifically, DHA omega-3 fatty acid accounts for six percent of the dry matter of the cerebral cortex and it supports and protects neurological transmissions. DHA protects the neurons in the hippocampus, the brain’s seat of learning, memory, and emotion.

DHA has been found to limit occasional low feelings or mood imbalances, which affect learning, and it has been found to help the emotions adapt during times of stress. One reason for this is that DHA has been shown to help regenerate neurons in the hippocampus.

Liquid ArcticPure™ DHA, as with all of the ArcticPure oils, is obtained from a series of distillation processes that extracts the beneficial fatty acids from natural fish oils while ensuring the highest standards of purity.

OmegaKid™ DHAOmega-3 Fish Oil for Healthy Brain Development

The healthy development of brain function in children depends on a healthy cellular environment. The proper formation and health of nerve cell membranes are critical because that is how nerve cells communicate and send messages—through electrical impulses that pass down the membranes. This kid-friendly DHA supplement improves neural cell functioning and development.

DHA is a primary structural component of neuronal membranes that influence the proper activity of transmitters. It accomplishes this by being incorporated into the tails of phospholipids and helps facilitate cell signaling. DHA and EPA together are essential for normal growth and development.

OmegaKid™ DHA is available in liquid form in a pleasing lemon flavor. It may be taken straight from the bottle or mixed with food or juice.

Attentive Child™ DHAOmega-3 Fish Oil for Enhanced Mental Concentration

The omega-3 DHA has been found to help children adapt to occasional stress. Stress has been shown to be a primary reason why children in our modern world have trouble concentrating. But this amazing oil does much more than calm a child, it also helps the learning process. DHA in the hippocampus, the body’s seat of learning and memory, maintains brain function. Granule neurons in the hippocampus proliferate throughout life and DHA maintains their growth and development.

As an important component in the body’s set of phospholipids, DHA is of primary importance in synthesizing nerve cell membranes, the conduits for brain activity. This supplement helps the child relax while helping build cognitive cells for lifelong learning.

Attentive Child™ DHA is available in liquid form in a pleasing lemon flavor. It may be taken straight from the jar or mixed with food or juice.

ArcticPure™ DHAStrawberry Flavor Softgels, 275 mgArcticPure™ DHA is a concentrated source of the essential brain nutrient DHA. DHA, an omega-3 fatty acid found in fish oil, provides nutritional support for the brain and nervous system. Stabilizing antioxidants in this softgel include ascorbyl palmitate, mixed tocopherols, and rosemary extract.

EFAArctic Pure™ EFAOmega 3 Fish Oil Concentrate, Lemon Flavor Softgels, 325 mg

ArcticPure™ EFA (Essential Fatty Acids) is a combination of EPA, DHA and gamma linolenic acid (GLA), which is commonly found in borage. This combination has the benefits of DHA and EPA combined with the benefits of GLA, a polyunsaturated fatty acid that helps the body produce messen-ger hormones. This product provides 150 mg of EPA, 100 mg of DHA, and 75 mg of GLA (gamma linolenic acid) from borage oil. GLA is an essential polyunsaturated fatty acid. It is used by most cells to produce the soothing, intracellular, hormonelike messengers known as series-1 prostaglandins (PGE-1), which help maintain the balance of many functions in the body. GLA sup-ports the immune system and helps maintain healthy skin and circulation. This essential nutrient is incorporated into our cell membranes where it helps to maintain fluidity and permeability.
