Graduate school is not the only qualification to landing your dream job.

There are lots of outlets where you can gain additional work experience and

education for your industry. Can you do any of these?

Internships are valuable opportunities to learn more about your chosen field.

Volunteering is a great way to gain credible work experience.

Find areas where you can expand your knowledge at your current job (this might require you to suggest new ideas/projects to your employer).

You should go over your long-term plan before you make your decision. This means

you need to have a good understanding of what benefits will come from continuing

your formal education.

Will going to graduate school actually advance you in your career?

Graduate School is a huge investment of time and money, so this is something you should be 100% sure about.

One way to help you figure this is out is to review people’s LinkedIn profiles who are in the job or industry that you are interested in, to find out if earning an advanced degree is a must or great benefit to your career path.

Check to see if your current employer offers education reimbursement.

If you don’t think they will, it does not hurt to ask. Even if they will not cover all of it, you might be surprised to find out they will help with part of it.

Start with your human resources department to find out the policy, and thenspeak with your boss if necessary.

Do not be afraid to ask! You never know what will happen.
