Dear St. Gabriel Parishioners!!

This bulletin letter is really a thank you note and an invitation!

First, the thank you!

When our four church parishes merged and I started traveling to the different Masses we had scheduled, I was

lucky enough to have choir members from Queen of Apostles Church agree to travel to the various Masses.

Then a few joined in from Corpus Christi. We have never taken a summer off from rehearsing or singing at

Masses because I always believe that if you discontinue a set rehearsal, human nature being what it is… we will

fill that open time with something else. More than anything, I did not want us to lose any choir member. They are

precious to me and to the life of the Church.

This past season of Lent and Easter, it became apparent to me that our little group was tired and in sore need of a

break. And so, I abruptly discontinued meeting with the group, asking them to attend church by sitting in pews

and participating that way. I don’t think most people know how much time and energy the choir has given to this

ministry, and given up the time to attend Mass with family. So my thanks to these dedicated choristers…

Marge Roeske, Julie McCoy, Yvonne Bacon, Yvette Gauthier, Marlyce Pietrantonio, Norm Trotter,

Sandy Trotter, and Zach Simmerman. I couldn’t have done it without you. I also want to thank the young

people who have helped along the way… Renee Parks, Juliane Parks… their parents Liz and Ralph Parks,

Jackee Keane, Andrew Keane, Briana Williams, Jeff Shields, Kathleen Shields, Christopher Shields,

Kaitlin Shields, Stephanie Wagner, Jeffrey Wagner.

Our Spanish choir is working hard to build a strong choir, so thank you to Ana Casiano, Gladys Andujar,

Marbea Vasquez, Carmelina Vasquez, Darvy Arzola and Christina Arzola, Maria Candelaria Lira and her

daughter Glendy. To Robin Fanelli, Gina Abbott, and her group of talented ladies.

As you can see it takes a village of people that freely give of their time and talent to lead our congregation in sung

prayer, and I am forever grateful for all of you.

And now, the invitation…

Salem County has a plethora of talented people who weekly attend Masses at Corpus Christi & St. Mary’s Church.

WE NEED YOU!!!

We need you to join this village to sing praise to the Lord, to sing at our Masses, to fill our space with joyful song,

to thank the Lord for all He has done for us. To join as a family as the Parks, the Shields, the Trotters, the Keanes,

the Wagners have done, and you will receive an amazing gift in return. To attend and participate as a family brings

us closer to each other and to God.

So please accept this invitation to all who love to sing, join us.

God Bless You!

Joan Nipe, Director of Liturgical Music

familia. Así que gracias a estos dedicados coristas...

Marge Roeske, Julie McCoy, Yvonne Bacon, Yvette Gauthier, Marlyce Pietrantonio, Norm Trotter,

Sandy Trotter y Zach Simmerman.

Renee Parks, Juliane Parks ... Sus padres Liz y Ralph Parks,

Jackee Keane, Andrew Keane, Briana Williams, Jeff Shields, Kathleen Shields, Christopher Shields,

Kaitlin Shields, Stephanie Wagner, Jeffrey Wagner.

regalo increíble a cambio.

Small Christian Community Faith Sharing

Please note that we put the following week’s Gospel passage in this space so you can prepare all week for proclamation of

the Gospel the following Sunday. Faith Sharing helps ordinary people connect their faith with everyday life experiences.

Excerpt from the Gospel for The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, June 18, 2017 ~ John 6:51-58

Jesus said to the Jewish crowds: “I am the Living Bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live

forever; and the bread that I will give is My flesh for the life of the world.” The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,

“How can this Man give us His flesh to eat?” Jesus said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the

Son of Man and drink His blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal

life, and I will raise him on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. Whoever eats My flesh and

drinks My blood remains in Me and I in him.

Commentary: People objected when Jesus talked about offering His life for the sake of the world. We still hear plenty of

objections to this kind of talk. Some of us find the idea of self-sacrifice noble in the realm of soldiers armed with guns. But

what if somebody walks into the heart of danger armed only with the truth? What if our children choose religious life over

careers in law and medicine? What if a friend decides to work in a crime-filled neighborhood, or to become politically active

in an unpopular issue? How do we view these self-sacrificing decisions? With alarm? With unbelief? Until we embrace the

spirit of self-sacrifice, we’re standing with the crowds who thought the “angel food” talk of Jesus was pure lunacy.

Questions for Reflection and Sharing:

    1. What is God saying to me in this Gospel passage?

    2. What word or phrase in this Gospel speaks to me?

    3. What word or phrase in the Reflec&on resonates with me?
