    To oppose the flow of electrons ( current).

    The symbols are shown below

    Resistance is measured in units called Ohm.

    1000 ohms is shown as 1k

    Resistors can be broadly of two types

    Fixed Resistors

    Variable Resistors

    A fixed resistor is one for which the value of its

    resistance is specified and cannot be varied in

    general

    Different type of fixed resistor:-

    charge or in effect electrical energy.

    It is very useful as a filter, and for passing ACand blocking DC.

    TYPES OF CAPACITORS

    ELECTROLYTIC CAPACITORS:

    The important characteristic of electrolytic capacitors is

    that they have polarity.

    Mainly this type of capacitor is used as a ripple filter in apower supply circuit.

    Electrolytic capacitors range in value from about 1F to

    thousands of F.

    CERAMIC CAPACITORS

    Ceramic capacitors are constructed with materials

    such as titanium and barium used as the dielectric.

    Internally, these capacitors are not constructed as a

    coil, so they can be used in high frequency applications.

    DIODE

    Diode is a two-terminal electronic component that

    conducts electric current in only one direction.

    The most common function of a diode is to allow an

    electric current to pass in one direction (called thediode's forwarddirection), while blocking current in

    the opposite direction (the reverse direction).

    It is type of diode i.e. if we connect it in

    forward bias it works but in reverse bias it

    never works.
