You may only study as a full-time student.

You cannot come to Canada as a visitor and

then attend college in Ontario. If you plan to

attend college when in Canada, you should

make the arrangements before you leave your

home country.

Many colleges offer English as a Second

Language programs to help you improve your

language skills. Contact the International

Office at the college of your choice for more

information.

Most colleges have an International Office

where staff can answer your questions and

help you with:

- travel arrangements- finding a place to live in Ontario

- banking

- translation of legal documents

- finding your way around the community

- college tours

Some colleges charge additional fees for

services provided to international students.

For details, please contact the college

directly.

International student fees are approximately

$10,000 in Canadian funds per year (two

semesters). Colleges may also charge

additional fees.

International Applicant Guide to Ontarios Colleges

The information in this guide is to help you plan for your college studies in Ontario. For program

information or to apply online to an Ontario college, visit the ontariocolleges.ca website.

You are not insured for medical, hospital or

dental care by the Canadian government.

However, most of the colleges have a health

plan available for international students. At a

few institutions, this insurance is included in

tuition fees for full-time students. Other

colleges charge an extra fee for health

insurance. For details, contact the

International Office of the college you are

planning to attend.

You cannot receive financial assistance from

the Canadian government. As part of the

immigration requirements, you need to prove

that you have enough money to fully support

yourself and your dependents during your

stay in Canada.

Funding for international students is limited.

However, your home country may have

funding available for students who wish to

study abroad. Once enrolled at an Ontario

college, international students usually qualify

for the same awards and scholarships as

other students.

*You should not expect to fund any part of

your studies in Canada through money

received from part-time employment while

attending college. However, international

students can work in Canada in the followingsituations:

- employed as part of a course of study, such

as a work term during the year, as in

cooperative programs

- employed on-campus

- employed off-campus (requires an

Off-Campus Work Permit)

- employed after graduation in a study-related

job for up to two years

There are some further restrictions on these

conditions. Contact Citizenship andImmigration Canada (www.cic.gc.ca) for full

she/he may also be allowed to apply for an

employment authorization. Working without

an employment authorization is a violation of

the Immigration Act and may result in youhaving to leave the country.

to-date listing of all programs offered at

Ontario colleges. You can save your favourite

programs to a wishlist and return to themlater.

Contact the college to make sure you qualify

for the program that interests you.

Its faster and easier to apply to college online

using the application available on the

ontariocolleges.ca website. After completingthe application, send supporting documents

(see pages 7 and 12) and payment, if not

paying online, (see page 9) to the address

indicated.

To apply online:

go to ontariocolleges.ca

select Apply and click Apply Now

create an account by entering a username

and password (Write down your application

number when you set up your account.)

enter your personal information on theAll About Me screen

go and select to which programs you want

to apply in order of preference

pay the required fees

Write your application number on all payments

and documents. This number is provided to you

electronically when you apply online.

You should apply to Ontario colleges as soon as

the application is available, in October, so that

youll have plenty of time to complete the

academic and immigration requirements before

your studies begin. Applications received

before February 1 for fall 2010 programs are

considered on an equal basis. After February 1,

applications are considered on a first-come,

first-served basis. However, depending on thecountry in which you live, the application

process can take anywhere from three to nine

months, so it's best to apply much earlier than

February 1.

You may select up to five program choices with

no more than three at any one college.

CONFIRM an offer of admission

Colleges will begin to inform applicants of their

admission decisions for fall 2010 programs as early

as February 1, 2010. Admission decisions forprograms that start at other times of the year will be

sent out throughout the year.

You could receive more than one Offer of Admission

depending on the number of colleges and programs

to which you have applied.

Confirm the offer to the college of your choice, on or

before May 3, 2010. Each college will determine the

due date to confirm offers made after May 3, 2010.You may accept only one offer at a time.

Not all colleges will acknowledge receipt of your

Confirmation of Acceptance.

2. Click on Confirm

3. Click on Confirm Now

4. Sign in to your account using your username

and password

5. From the Main Menu, click on Offer of Admission

6. Click on the link for the date that you want to

start college.

7. Select the Offer of Admission you would like to

confirm and click on the Confirm button

REVOKED - The offer has been withdrawn by the

college and is no longer available to you.

SUSPENDED - The offer has been suspended by the

college because the program is no longer being

offered.

EXPIRED - The expiry date has passed and this offer

is no longer valid.

current acceptance will automatically cancel your

The following fees apply:

application processing fee ($95)

The $95 application processing fee covers allcollege and program choice changes made tothe original application for programs beginningAugust 1, 2010 through to July 31, 2011. Thisfee also covers secure online service, emailnotifications, imaging of paper documents,infrastructure for the online transcript requestservices, new systems development, staffing,and contact centre support, including extendedhours during the peak application period. Thereare no exemptions from this fee. Your paymentmust accompany your application. Applications

submitted without the $95 applicationprocessing fee will not be forwarded to yourcollege choices. The date your payment isreceived at ontariocolleges.ca will beconsidered as the date your application isreceived.

The $60 international document assessment

fee covers the evaluation of academic

documents from education outside of Canada.

An assessment, indicating the highest level of

education attained and subjects successfully

completed, will be sent to each of the colleges

listed on your application.

international document return fee ($10)

If you wish to have your original or certified

documents returned to you, you must pay the

$10 international document return fee. (Allow

four to six weeks for documents to bereturned.) Documents are returned by regular

mail service to the address listed on your

application. Please make sure that this address

is complete and up-to-date.

fee ($50)

An official summary report of the assessment is

available for $50. It can be requested byapplicants online or by calling the Customer

Contact Centre.

All fees are non-refundable.

Do not send cash through the mail.

We take great care in processing your

documents; however, if envelopes are received

overstuffed, documents may be torn or

damaged. We are not responsible for any

documents damaged.

ONLINE Pay by VISA, MasterCard or American

Express using the secure online payment form.

TELEPHONE Call the Customer Contact Centre

Canada) and pay using your VISA, MasterCard

MAIL You may also mail a credit card

payment, money order or certified cheque. Use

the payment form on page 8. Your payment

should be in Canadian funds and made payable

to ontariocolleges.ca. Write your application

number on the front of your payment.

International bank transfers are NOT accepted.

when you apply. Missing documents may

delay the processing of your application by

the college. You need to send:

study permitOnce you've received a letter of acceptancefrom an Ontario college, you need to apply for astudy permit (Form IMM1294) at the nearestCanadian Citizenship and Immigration office.

To do this, you need:

a valid passport, in most cases (refer towww.cic.gc.ca to see if students from your

home country need a visa in order to study in

Canada)

a letter of acceptance from the college stating the

program of study, including start and end dates

proof that you have enough money to support

yourself and your dependents during your

entire stay in Canada

if you are being sponsored, a letter from yoursponsoring organization

a medical clearance and/or security

clearance, if necessary, depending on your

home country

There is an application fee to apply for a study

permit (see www.cic.gc.ca for details).
