The programmeAll over the world, the key to successful business is more and more based on the performance of your Human Resource or Human Capital. International organisations and their sta continually need to adapt to shifts in the external environment and have to feel ‘at home’ anywhere in the world. The pro-gramme is aimed at advancing the understanding of human behaviour in the workplace and the con-tribution of Human Resource (HR) policies and prac-tices to the e ectiveness of organisations.

You will certainly have to understand your com-pany’s strategy to cope with the fast changing

environments. And within this dynamic and rapidly changing environment, your personal knowledge, skills, competences and understanding how to co-operate with business managers are extremely important to ensure that organisations and their human resource “ t” to all internal and external changes.

Your future employer can expect from you a thorough understanding of business-oriented HR and an adequate translation of the international (corporate) strategy into relevant and modern HR policies and procedures. As you have profound knowledge of change processes you will be a well-trained professional with a broad set of culturally adapted skills and capable of demon-strating a professional approach as a sparring partner of management.

an organisation through periods of change. Students will also learn the principles of the new work environ-ment and their application in e.g. leadership, organisa-

tional culture and high performance work systems. During the fourth year students will complete an internship and write their Bachelor thesis within an international oriented organisation.

Bachelor HRM: Short Degree Programme Saxion’s Short Degree Programme is open to students with a previous HRM education of a minimum of 3 years. The SDP-programme o ers the opportunity to receive an internationally acknowledged Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management in two years. The programme at Saxion strongly focusses on international HRM strategies, thorough understanding of primary processes and inter-cultural communication skills. Screening of your previous HRM education is part of the entry requirements. Soft skillsSimply attending class and acquiring knowledge is not enough. The internationally operating HR specialist is expected to know how to share this knowledge with others and use this knowledge in the world. A lot of

attention is dedicated to the personal development of the student in this international setting. Multinational team building and acquiring a variety of communication skills by means of training sessions, like negotiating, in- uencing techniques, presentations, management skills and project-based working are part of the programme.

CoachingDuring your studies, you don’t have to do it all by yourself. A coach will help you nd your way in the Netherlands and in our school. He or she will also supervise you in making sure you are successful in your studies and will take a look at your future career prospects together with you. During project work and when writing your graduation thesis you are coached on content as well as on the process.

Practically orientedSaxion works with competence oriented and problem guided teaching. This means that in your studies theory and practical experience are merged together, when-ever possible. Practical cases follow the theory. Therefore, it is possible that you have to put yourself in the position of an HR assistant in the rst year and several months later in the position of an HR advisor at a large international company or an HR organisational specialist for a multinational. You may also explore the di erences between HR instruments in various coun-tries and develop a new training system. For a medium-sized company in a border town you may develop a protocol for an upcoming merger and advice how to handle di erences in culture, whether or not to restruc-ture departments and how to adapt the payroll. Together with your team mates you report, advice and analyse, in which we can recognise the international operating HR business professional of the future. We support you with lectures, practical classes, seminars, (manage-ment) games and excursions. At the end of every period your knowledge is tested extensively.
