Welcome to InterContinental Bangkok.

Allow me first of all to wish you a very Happy Thai New Year! Songkran is an especially exciting time of the year to visit Thailand. The holiday is steeped in culture and tradition, and indeed Songkran is one of the country’s most important celebrations.

April, May and June are summertime in Bangkok. Here at InterContinental and at Holiday Inn Bangkok you’ll find a number of promotions reflecting the season.At InterContinental Bangkok, new year celebrations will be in full swing over at our all-day dining restaurant Espresso, where a Songkran Bu�et Brunch from 13 to 15 April features Thai delicacies including Mango sticky rice, Khao Chae or ricesoak in jasmine-scented water topped with ice, and served with delectable o�eringsas shrimp paste and many more. Also in April, Summer Palace launches a special dim sum and à la carte menu, while recently refreshed Fireplace Grill and Bar presents its new ‘Seasonal Delights’ promotion with freshly imported seasonal and specialty products from France taking center stage. Additionally, Theo Mio by Theo Randall sees the Italian restaurant’s “Thousand Star” promotion lighting up diners’ faces in May - indeed throughout the monththere will definitely be plenty of dishes to bedazzle. On into June at Theo Mio, a Mille Stelle promotion features products from the artisanal cheese maker including burrata, mozzarella, straciatella and fresh ricotta.

Just 10 days after Songkran, British celebrity chef Theo Randall himself will be arriving in Bangkok for special wine dinners at Theo Mio, which upon opening last year became the chef’s very first restaurant outside Britain. From 27 to 29 April 2016, the award-winning chef will delight diners with his ‘3 Nights in Bangkok’ series of five-course dinners with wine pairings.

Thai New Year (or Songkran) is traditionally a time for family reunions and temple visits. An important ritual is Rod Nam Dum Hua, performed on the first day of Songkran and in which young people sprinkle drops of fragrant water into their elders’ palms and request blessings for the year ahead. Water, central to Songkran celebrations, representspurification and the washing away of sins and bad luck. Indeed, the holiday is best known for its iconic water festival wherein crowds gather in major streets to take part in water-splashing revelry. Traditional parades are held as well, with a Miss Songkran pageant a familiar event in towns and cities throughout the nation.

THEO MIOSavor the subtle flavor of white asparagus in April with a wide-ranging seasonal menu at Theo Mio.
