Intelligent Cargo for Warehouses and Terminals The warehousing companies and the terminal operators usually do not have reliable information on the Estimated Arrival Time (ETA) of cargo to their premises. Therefore, it is difficult to optimise the subsequent activities in the warehouse or terminal. For example it is difficult to optimize the manpower for unloading the cargo and the efficient use of infrastructure capacity. Moreover, the unloading and official receipt of goods is usually done manually, with high risks of errors in both the registration of the receipt as in the consequent outbound picking and sorting activities, sometimes leading to erroneous deliveries to the end customer. These companies are also responsible for the damages, in case the cargo stocked under their control is stolen. EURIDICE offers a set of functions for warehouses and terminals to solve or overcome aforementioned problems: Triggering outbound asset. When the cargo reaches an established geographical area, the IC sends a notification to the outbound operators that will receive the cargo. Loading check. The IC lists the items that are loaded in a truck and compares them with the associated loading plan. In case of deviations or when the loading is finished, the IC notifies the identified actors about these facts. Automated check in. When unloading of the cargo at the warehouse or terminal is finished, the IC compares the unloaded cargo with the associated order. If everything is in order, a proof of delivery is sent to the supplier (or sender), otherwise the IC sends the list of the discrepancies to the identified actors. The information connected to the unloaded cargo is automatically sent to warehouse management system. Automated check out. The items that are exiting from the warehouse are identified, checked against the customer order and the warehouse management system is updated. In case the cargo being loaded for delivery does not agree with the order, a notification is sent immediately to the warehouse company. Automated parking reservation. IC receives and processes information on the traffic or environment conditions (e.g. strong wind). The result of the information processing can be a proposal to the driver to park at the certain terminal truck parking and if the driver accepts, a parking spot is reserved. Anti-theft. The IC provides supervision of goods when waiting in the area equipped with such surveillance function. In case IC senses the items being moved from the area, the cameras are directed to record the event and to send a notification to the identified actors. Intelligent Cargo for Warehouses and Terminals

The warehousing companies and the terminal operators usually do not have reliable information on the Estimated Arrival Time (ETA) of cargo to their premises.

EURIDICE offers a set of functions for warehouses and terminals to solve or overcome aforementioned problems:

✔ Triggering outbound asset. When the cargo reaches an established geographical area, the IC sends a notification to the outbound operators that will receive the cargo. ✔ Loading check. The IC lists the items that are loaded in a truck and compares them with the associated loading plan. In case of deviations or when the loading is finished, the IC notifies the identified actors about these facts.✔ Automated check in. When unloading of the cargo at the warehouse or terminal is finished, the IC compares the unloaded cargo with the associated order. If everything is in order, a proof of delivery is sent to the supplier (or sender), otherwise the IC sends the list of the discrepancies to the identified actors. The information connected to the unloaded cargo is automatically sent to warehouse management system.✔ Automated check out. The items that are exiting from the warehouse are identified, checked against the customer order and the warehouse management system is updated. In case the cargo being loaded for delivery does not agree with the order, a notification is sent immediately to the warehouse company. ✔ Automated parking reservation. The result of the information processing can be a proposal to the driver to park at the certain terminal truck parking and if the driver accepts, a parking spot is reserved.✔ Anti-theft. How does it work?

Along the transport route, in case the traffic and/or environmental conditions (e.g. strong wind) prevent fur-ther trip, the IC intelligence software that receives and processes the traffic and weather conditions, sends a proposal to the driver to park at the identified terminal to wait for better conditions. If the driver accepts the proposal, a parking spot is reserved. At the terminal, the IC provides supervision of goods. In case the IC senses the items being removed from the area of responsibility, the notification to the terminal camera system and to the terminal security staff is sent. At the receipt of the notification, the cameras are directed to record the event. When the traffic or environmental conditions cease, the IC informs the driver that he can continue the trip. Upon reaching a pre-defined area, for example an area that is ten minutes away from the warehouse, the IC triggers the so-called outbound assets. For example the outbound assets could be the manpower and mechanisation needed to unload the cargo. At arrival to the warehouse, the unloaded cargo is identified, checked against the order and in case of discrepancies, the identified players are informed. The warehouse management system is automatically updated with the information about the cargo received and about the cargo exiting.

Benefits

The IC informs the warehouse and/or the terminal operators of the incoming cargo in an accurate and timely manner. This leads to: • Improvement of the scheduling of the warehouse and terminal management activities that can result

in the decrease of the related labour costs; • Better and more efficient parking space management (with the parking booking application), that can

lead to new revenues due to better service offered; • Decrease of the errors due to the manual cargo identification and handling in both receipt and

check-out activities, thus improving the quality of service and customer order fulfilment ; • Improvement of the quality of service, since the information about the status of the cargo can be

accessed in real time. • Improved security through the anti-theft system, that results in reduced insurance costs
