Access – a crucial point

Access conditions: – IMPACT will be running during the whole LS1, which means that

each activity will be approved by the coordination team and the safety officers.

– From T0 to end of warm-up:• Sec. 23, 45, 56, 78, 81: Restricted/closed mode w.r.t.

powering tests• Sec. 12, 34 & 67: Closed mode from 300K to 80K

– Till start of cool-down: General (underground = free)*– Cool-down: Closed from 300K to 80 K

Restricted after 80K– Powering tests: Restricted / Closed according to the

access matrix

* Points 3 and 7 will be set in general mode, following RP green light

LHC Coordination

MPE Review, November 22-23, 2012M. Bernardini

Page 21: Integration of MPE activities in the global LHC LS1 schedule

LHC Coordination

• Schedule in a very good shape

• Preparation in progress : Work Package Analysis– Scheduling, manage co-activities– Operating procedure, methods, risk analysis– Environment– Logistics: access, circulation, storage, transport, utilities, etc.

• MPE WORKPACKAGE ANALYSIS: DECEMBER, 13TH, 2012.

MPE Review, November 22-23, 2012 22M. Bernardini

Safety • Documentation to be provided by Tech. Resp. to safety

coordinators– 1. PPSPS (plan particulier de sécurité et de protection de la santé)

Specific activities.

– 2a. PdP (Plan de Prevention) → Long term contract– 2b. Modus operandi / Task form

• Joint Inspection prior to the start (VIC)“ to check that the modus operandi and the environment is conform to what is described in the documentation”

MPE Review, November 22-23, 2012 24M. Bernardini

Follow-up• Monday Morning meetings• On site visits and meetings• Weekly coordination meeting• Upgrade, modifications, methods and schedule

Page 24: Integration of MPE activities in the global LHC LS1 schedule

MPE Review, November 22-23, 2012 25M. Bernardini

Conclusions

• The critical path of LS1 is related to the interconnection activities.

• Identify & COMMUNICATE deviations ASAP;

• Critical issue: resources impact on schedule and co-activities
