What is PowerPoint?• PowerPoint is a simple and

accessible presentation software

• An excellent compliment to public speaking

• Can be used by teachers and students alike to develop multimedia presentations

• Users can imbed text, audio, video and hyperlinks directly into presentations

• Dynamic visual aid

Costs and Availability• PowerPoint is a feature in all

standard Microsoft Office packages

• Basic student package retails for $139.99 (US), but it can be found for less

• District administrators should inquire about discounted bulk rates and packages

• If the Office package is too expensive, other alternatives can be found here and here

Quick Tips• Keep it short- minimize the

words used for notes

• Keep it fresh- utilize different designs and animations

• Use pictures- grab student attention visually

• Experiment- don’t be afraid to click on different tabs and icons

• There’s plenty more you can do as you get more comfortable (hyperlink, audio, video, advanced animation, etc.)
