A new programme of 7 new Short Films will be announced every Monday on CinemaAttic website and on a Facebook event where you can watch them, vote and comment for your favourites (both in Spanish or English). Every Sunday at 1:00pm, we wrap up the week together with #CinemaAtticVermouth / Un Vermut con CinemaAttic, a relaxed live conversation with some of the directors on CinemaAttic’s Facebook channel. He left us last February but his legacy is wide and as relevant today in Spanish cinema as it was thirty years ago. Session 2: A case of success: ESCAC ESCAC stands for Escola Superior de Cinema i Audiovisuals de Catalunya. Attached to the University of Barcelona and with a important hand on approach, the School, where teamwork and crossing barriers are primary guidelines, has produced some of the most interesting and fresh productions in the last few years. Its objective is to make known, disseminate and connect among themselves the artists, writers, intellectuals and promoters of culture of Hispanic American origin residing in Europe and the world. Instituto Cervantes London collaborates with this programme in the production of podcasts that, biweekly, will be available on the websites of the two entities. The installments in April have as central figures the Spanish poet Luis García Montero and the Argentine novelist Mariana Enríquez, led by Enrique Záttara, responsible for the project. This year’s programme will include two exhibitions, one group show and a solo one, that will display these artists’ research around the tension between nature and culture in the digital age. The group show will exhibit the work of 15 artists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Portugal and Venezuela: selected from 190 applicants in an open call. For the second show, Amalgama will bring the work of renowned Colombian artist Maria Elvira Escalón. Videos of selected artists in the current call for Amalgama: 1. Constanza Camila (Chile) 2. Sabina Simón (Spain) 3. Ray Picot will highlight the key masterworks as well as revealing the lesser-known hidden gems in the repertoire. Discover the seminal interpretations alongside more recent release revelations, whilst learning about the music in context. Enrique Granados was one of a triumvirate of great Spanish composers, along with Isaac Albéniz and Manuel de Falla, to achieve international acclaim during the early years of the 20th century. His untimely death deprived Spanish music of one of its great composers, though his music flourished through a new generation of performers and latterly a rich legacy of recordings.
