complexities of managing human as well as

narrow problem only.

A sincere desire and enthusiasm for learning and an

appreciation of the intrinsic value of learning are

important inputs from the candidates. Curiosity,

persistence and willingness to work hard are other

assets, which are expected from the individual in a

full and vigorous academic program preparing

them for India's rapidly changing business

environment.

D.C.Bansal

CHAIRMAN ‘Receipient of Uttrakhand Gaurav Award’

and ‘Uttarakhand Ratan Award’.

The words of Honourable Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Ex-President of

the Republic of India, are like a ‘beacon’, showing what the

educational institutions responsibilities should include. For us,

at IMMT, putting into practice, his expressed thoughts constitute

our ‘Mission Statement’.

FROM THE CHAIRMAN’S DESK

I would like to call this destiny and not design and

am grateful for being the chosen one to be the

Director at the Indian Institute of Media,

Management & Technology.

Man is born in debt and remains in debt all his life.

He is indebted to his parents for bringing him into

this world. He is indebted to nature which provides

for all the sustenance needs of a healthy journey in

the lifetime; And he remains in debt to the society-

that offers him to gracefully gain in this very life

time, above all, an identity.

There is no way that he can ever repay his parents.

He can endeavour to safe guard the nature, to

prevent its destruction, with the selfish motive of

his living a good life but can never truly repay

nature for the bounties it offers. This leaves the only

avenue, society, where he can try and do his bit.

`Indian Institute of Media, Management &

Technology' is my chosen path to try and repay the

society by educating the youth with plans to keep on

ever increasing coverage of courses that are

affordable to common individuals. Education at

IMMT is not academics alone but building up all

round confident personalities who get gainfully

employed in their chosen vocations. Like the wise

man said: Teach a man how to catch a fish rather

than feeding him a fish every day and he shall never

go hungry.

So! with the whole hearted participation of the

management, dedicated staff and with constantly

improving infrastructure we shall work to impart

total education; Values plus knowledge and the

ability to always use it positively.

May God be with us all as a guide in our sojourn.

Megha Bansal

Director

Associating with an educational institute is a privilege

that I have accepted in all humbleness. It is once in a

lifetime opportunity, not to be missed – for God may

not ordain that I tread this path again – to render

service to the youth. To give them future vision, an all

round education, good moral values and to see them

grow up as responsible, creative, thinking citizens

should be a reward enough.

DIRECTOR’s NOTE

1

When the students come out of the

educational institutions certain capacities

are required to be built in them to deal

with the real world, particularly to grow

in their professional career and

participate in national development.

The objective of human resources development is to foster

human resourcefulness through enlightened and cohesive

policies in education, training, health and employment at

all levels, from corporate to national.

People are something India has in plenty. But ask any

CEO of Govt. or Private sector what is biggest problem,

the simple & straight answer most probably will getting

the right people. This may sound paradoxical. But the fact

is that whether it by Govt., business, industry, service

sector or an institution there simply are not enough

trained people around to meet the challenges of

Globalization & Liberalization, which have exploded the

economy.

Today developing & managing people (Human Resources)

skills is everybody is concern today. It is simple yet very

phenomena of human behaviour and development. As

such it requires specific techniques, took methods and

skill....

As industries move from manual to a more managerial

professions so does the need for more highly skilled

graduates. If the market is "tight" (i.e. not enough staff for

the jobs), employers will have to compete for employees

by offering financial rewards, community investment, etc.

In the very narrow context of corporate "human

resources" management, there is a contrasting pull to

reflect and require workplace diversity that echoes the

diversity of a global customer base. Foreign language and

culture skills, ingenuity, humor, and careful listening, are

examples of traits that such programs typically require. It

would appear that these evidence a general shift through

the human capital point of view to an acknowledgment

that human beings do contribute much more to a

productive enterprise than "work": they bring their

character, their ethics, their creativity, their social

connections, and in some cases even their pets and

children, and alter the character of a workplace. The term

corporate culture is used to characterize such processes at

the organizational level.

At the organizational level, a successful Human Resources

Development program will prepare the individual to

undertake a higher level of work, “organized learning over

a given period of time, to provide the possibility of

performance change” (Nadler 1984). In these settings,

Human Resources Development is the framework that

focuses on the organizations competencies at the first

stage, training, and then developing the employee,

through education, to satisfy the organizations long-term

needs and the individuals’ career goals and employee

value to their present and future employers. Human

Resources Development can be defined simply as

developing the most important section of any business its

human resource by, “attaining or upgrading the skills and

attitudes of employees at all levels in order to maximise

the effectiveness of the enterprise” (Kelly 2001). The

people within an organization are its human resource.

Human Resources Development from a business

perspective is not entirely focused on the individual’s

growth and development, “development occurs to

enhance the organization's value, not solely for individual

improvement. Individual education and development is a

tool and a means to an end, not the end goal itself”.

(Elwood F. Holton II, James W. Trott Jr). The broader

concept of national and more strategic attention to the

development of human resources is beginning to emerge

as newly independent countries face strong competition

for their skilled professionals and the accompanying

brain-drain they experience.

The aim of this program is to enhance significantly each

students basic skill on managing people not knowledge

alone but increased case and skill in doing so. The skill are

many, a quantum jump cannot be expected in all, but the

conclusion of the course will be to train each student,

significantly and observably more effective in each basic

skill for human resource development.
