Proceedings of the Meet:

Institute of Management Studies, Banaras Hindu University hosted National Alumni Meet 2017 of BHU Management Alumni Association (BHUMAA) on 12th February 2017. The mega reunion of its alma mater brought the entire fraternity of distinguished alumni, students and faculty members in unity. The event saw the presence of the eminent Chief Guest for the event Dr. B.R. Singh, Managing Director, Strategic Management Consultants and the Guest of Honour Mr. Raj Kapur, Advisor, JCT Electronics.

The event started with the address of Prof. HP Mathur who warmly welcomed the gathering. Furthermore, Prof. Raj Kumar, Director, Dean and Head addressed the assemblage and mentioned the notable achievements and pipeline projects of the Institute and highlighted the consultancy extension of the Institute and its partners. The next address of the event was by Prof. HC Choudhary, who talked about the BHUMAA journey and pointed out the humongous task taken by Prof. C Lal to initiate the alumni meet in 2001 and since then the association has grown beyond bounds.

The young achiever awardees were Mr. Vineet Mahajan and Mr Satayendra Choudhary and distinguished alumni awards were presented to Mr. Nalin Gulati, Mr. Anil Bhatia, Mr. Ashok Kr. Gupta, Mr. Street Mitra and Mr. Munish Barbara. This event also marked as a silver reunion of 1992 batch and the alumni were felicitated for the same.

The following Scholarships were given to meritorious students, Prof. SKR BMemorial was given to Ms. Akanksha Singh, Pyarelalgiven to Ms.Smita Budhia and Ms. Ishita Singh, Satyavritti Sewanidhi Memorial scholarship was given to Mr. Prithvi Kakkar, Kamala Vishveshwar memorial scholarship Hayat Ansari, Mrs.Santosh Nagia was given to Ms. Faiza Hasan. Since bygone years hold most dearness, the distinguished alums shared their dear experiences which enriched the gathering. They reminisced about their time at the Institute and the students to never lose their sense of focus and direction of goals which is the ultimate point one aspires to reach. They urged the students to face the trials and tribulations of being with most bravery and positivity. Prof. HP Mathur proposed the vote of thanks and also conducted the event. After an afternoon break the students added an effervescent touch to the alumni reunion with a host of cultural programmes which began with Ganesh Vandana followed by a sonorous flute rendition followed by a semi classical dance, group song, poetry and indian jugalbandi. The event culminated at a high note leaving the alums nostalgic and with lifetime of memories.

Nalin Gulati (1971 BatchMr. Nalin Gulati completed his Bachelorsfrom Banaras Hindu University in 1971an officer trainee in 1972 in a nationalised bank where hedifferent positions in middle management ltwelve years. To boost up the Industrial climate, he was sent to Faridabad on deputation under a Central Government Scheme for two years during which he worked closely with the State Government in implementing the rural industrialization schnursing of sick units.

Ashok K. Gupta (1983 BatchDr. Ashok K. Gupta completed his MasterStudies (M.M.S.) with specialization in Finance fromHindu University in 1983. He is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB), Mumbai. He has been awarded Ph.D. Degree from the InstituteStudies, BHU in 2017.

Dr. Ashok K. Gupta started his career as a Probationary Officer in State Bank of India in 1983 and worked there for 25 years. He then worked as the Senior Vice President & Zonal HeadCredit (West & North Zone) in Dhanlaxmi BPresently, he is working as the Senior Vice PresidentCapital Markets & Securities Ltd.
