1. Mount the flush mount box into the wall.

2. Connect the ground wire into the flush mount box using the tooth lockwasher and the machine screw nut (included in the kit).

3. Disconnect the red filter from the display panel.

4. Connect the wiring as shown on the wiring diagram on page 10.

5. Mount the display panel into the flush mount box using the four (4) black machine screws (#6, included in the kit). Make sure the switches are on the right side.

6. Snap the red filter into the display panel.

Surface (Wall) Mount Installation (ABS)

1. Mount Housing to Wall and/or Gang Box - To mount the housing to the wall, drive two (2) anchors into the wall (not supplied in

kit) and take two pan head screws (also not supplied in kit) and drive them into the inserts leaving an 1/8th inch gap between the head

of the screw and the wall. Mount the housing to the wall by lining up the two holes in the back of the top of the housing with the two

screws with the 1/8 inch gap from the wall and slide the housing onto the heads of the screws. To mount the housing to the gang box,

take the four (4) 6-32 x 1” screws (supplied in kit) and screw them through the four holes in the center of the inside of the housing and

the four holes in the gang box.

Note: If using a metal gang box, a ground must be provided to the gang box.

2. Feed Wiring Into the Housing - Take the wire coming from the inside of the gang box and feed it through the hole in the middle of

the housing.

3. Plug and Secure Wiring - Loosen the provided wire clamp (comes attached to the inside of the housing) and slip excess wiring

through and tighten the clamp. After securing excess wiring, plug the jack at the end of the wiring into the appropriate jack on the back

of the display board.

4. Mount Display Board to Housing - Using the four (4) self tapping, 6-19 x 1/2” flat head screws supplied in the assembly kit, take

the display board and screw it to the front side of the clock housing (4 screws per clock).

5. Snap on Filter - Take the red filter bezel and snap it on to the front side of the housing.

6. Snap on Frame - Take the gray frame and snap it on to the front side of the housing.

*For metal mounting bracket: Use a wall anchor that can support 50 lbs or more with a maximum

screw size of 8/1.5”

1. Install metal mounting bracket - First, remove the metal mounting bracket from the inside of the double mount base by unscrewing

the two (2) 6-32 x 1/2” screws located on the underside of the base (save these screws for step #5). Next, screw the metal mounting

bracket to the wall or ceiling in which the clocks are being installed. To mount to the switch box, screw the four (4) 6-32 x 1” screws

supplied in the assembly kit through the inner four holes of the metal mounting bracket. Use the outer four holes to mount anchors to

the wall (both anchors and screws for anchors not supplied in kit). For IP clocks, if using an Ethernet bracket (*as shown in the diagram)

use the two (2) 6-32 x 1/4” included in the assembly kit to mount the Ethernet bracket to the metal mounting bracket at this point

(Ethernet bracket not supplied in assembly kit).

Note: If using a plastic switch box, a ground wire must be routed through the switch box and into one (1) of

the four (4) metal mounting bracket screws in order to provide ground to the metal mounting bracket.

Note: the metal mounting bracket MUST be secured by both the screws going to the switch box AND the

anchors going into the wall.

2. Mount clock housings to pole - Align the hole in the center each housing with one of the three holes on the mounting pole where

the wiring will be routed (the installer will chose which hole at the end of the pole to use based on how far they want the clock to sit

from the wall). Screw from the inside of the housing into the four holes surrounding the hole in the center of the housing using the four

(4) 8-32 x 7/16” screws supplied in the assembly kit (4 screws per clock), securing both housings to the mounting pole.

Note: End caps from one side of each clock must be removed to mount both clocks to the mounting pole.

Remove one end cap from each clock from the side in which the mounting pole enters the clock.

3. Screw both housings together - Using the two (2) self tapping, 6-19 x 7/16” screws supplied in the assembly kit, screw both back

sides of the clock housings together (2 screws per clock).

4. Feed wiring through base and pole - Take the wiring coming from the switch box and begin to feed it through the center of the

base of the mounting assembly until it emerges from the hole in the center of the clock housing. Make sure there is roughly 1.5’ - 2’

of wiring coming from the switch box. Perform this task for both clocks. If installing IP clocks, run bare Ethernet wire without an RJ45

connector and install the connector after it has been routed through the clock if possible (this will be much easier than running the wire

with the connector on). If not possible, make sure that there is no boot present in order for the connector to fit through the assembly.

If you are using an Ethernet bracket with the installation of IP clocks, the assembly of the clocks in steps 6 and 7 can be accomplished

before mounting the assembly to the wall in step 5 - making the overall installation more simple.

5. Snap and screw base to metal mounting bracket - Snap the base to the metal mounting bracket by first making contact

with the lip in the upper side of the base and the metal mounting bracket. When the base has been snapped onto the bracket, take

the two (2) 6-32 x 1/2” pan head screws that originally came installed on the base and screw them back into the two holes on the

underside of the base to secure the base to the metal mounting bracket.

6. Connect switch box wires to clock harness - Take the wiring harness supplied with the clock and make all necessary

connections between the wiring harness and the switch box wires using wire nuts. Perform this task for both clocks. If using IP

clocks, wiring will not be supplied with the clocks - the installer will be responsible for supplying all Ethernet wiring.

7. Plug and secure wiring - Loosen and slip excess wiring through provided wire clamp (comes attached to each housing) and

tighten the clamp. After securing excess wiring, plug the jack at the end of the wiring harness into the appropriate jack on the back

of the display board. Perform this task for both clocks.

8. Mount display board to housing - Using the four (4) self tapping, 6-19 x 1/2" flat head screws supplied in the assembly kit,

take the display board and screw it to the front side of the clock housing (4 screws per clock).

9. Snap on filter - Take the red filter bezel and snap it on to the front side of each clock housing.

10. Snap on frame - Take the gray frame and snap it on to the front side of each clock housing.

1. Plug in the power injector to a power outlet.

2. Using a CAT5 or CAT6 patch cable, connect one end to the switch/router connected to the network and the other end into the IN on the power injector.

3. Using another CAT5 or CAT6 patch cable, connect one end to the OUT on the power injector and the other end to the RJ45 port on the IP clock.

4. If using a multi-output power injector, continue to power the other IP clocks by repeating step 3.

IMPORTANT: Detach clock from power source before installing new circuitry. DO NOT add new circuitry while the clock is operating.

If you ordered a Temperature Sensor with your SBP 3200/3300 clock, it must be connected to a terminal on the circuit board located on the back of the clock.

Sensor Cable

Data from the temperature sensor will be sent to your clock when the clock is powered on. For more information on how to make the SBP display temperature, please see the section labeled “Web Interface - Display Settings”.

The Sensor Cable is 6 feet (1.83 meters) long, and so the sensor should be positioned within 6 feet of the clock. The cable is unshielded, 4 conductor, 22AWG (.33mm²). If longer than 6 feet is required, the wire would have to be terminated in an electrical box, and the longer wire would have to be provided by the customer.

Wiring Information

Buzzer Installation (3300 Series)

If you ordered a Buzzer with your SBP 3300 clock, it can be installed on the clock circuit board with four easy steps:

1) Attach the long green connector to the J1 Sync Input ports.

2) Confirm that the wires are attached to holes 7 and 8. The red wire should be in hole 7. The black wire should be in hole 8.

3) Attach the short green connector to the J3 Relay Output ports.

4) Confirm that the wires are attached to holes 1 and 2. The yellow wire should be in hole 1. The black wire should be in hole 2.

(IMPORTANT: Detach clock from power source before installing new circuitry. DO NOT add new circuitry while the clock is operating)

To program the buzzer, access the clock’s web interface and perform the following actions:

1) Click on the Elapsed Timer tab.

2) FInd the drop-down menu next to “On Countdown complete, close” and select “Relay 2”

3) In “for ____ seconds” set the amount of time that you wish the buzzer to sound when the countdown ends. The number must be a whole number from 1 to 60.

4) Press the Save button.

Port 123 must be open if the clock is accessing a time server outside of the network.

Port 80 must be open if access to the web interface from outside the network is desired.

3. Static IP - If using a static IP, the IP address will default to 192.168.0.123. Go to a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Chrome, etc., and type in 192.168.0.123 into the address bar to load the web interface. Once this is done, follow the instructions on page 24 to find the Network Settings page. Turn off DHCP, enter the new IP address, and click submit. Next, power down the IP Clock, remove the jumper and reboot the IP clock. To access the web interface, type the new IP address into the address bar of the web browser.

4. DHCP - If DHCP is being utilized, load the Sapling IP Monitor software on a PC that is connected to the network. Launch the Monitor.exe file.

Locate the IP Clock by searching under the “Name” heading (if previously configured) or “Serial Number” (found on the circuit board on the back of the clock). Once the clock is located, double click on it to open the clock’s web interface.

1. The IP Clock is set to use DHCP by default. Once the IP Clock is plugged into the switch/router, it will try to get an IP address automatically.

2. If DHCP is not being used, and a static IP or crossover connection is preferred, then a jumper must be installed on the IP board at the following location:

Sapling IP Clock Monitor Software - Task Bar Options

1. Send - When clicked, this button will display the following options: Send Message - This option is not available with IP analog clocks.Send Looping Message - This option is not available with IP analog clocks.Send Countdown - This option is not available with IP analog clocks.

Task Bar Options

Find Hands - By selecting this option, the user will be able to send a command telling the analog clocks to resynchronize their hands. The user will be prompted to enter a password to authenticate their permissions. This command can be sent to one analog clock, a selected group of analog clocks, or all of the analog clocks in the system.

2. Groups - When clicked, this button will open the Groups drop-down menu. All - Clicking on this option will cause the monitor to display all compatible IP devices on the network.

Configure Groups - Opens the group configuration menu (see below).

“Group Name” - Clicking on the name of a group will cause the monitor to display all of the IP devices in that group. Example: Clicking on “Group 1” will cause the monitor to show only the devices that have been added to Group 1 through the Configure Groups menu.

A. Text Boxes - Entering a name into the text box will change the name of the group. For example, the first text box currently contains the name “Group 1”. This will cause the the first group to be shown as “Group 1” in the drop-down menu.

B. Clocks buttons - Clicking on a Clocks button will display each of the group’s devices in the box to the right.

C. Device Box - Displays the devices for the selected group. The name of the selected group will appear above the device box.

To add a device to the group, click on a device on the IP monitor. While holding down the button on the mouse, drag the name of the device over to the device box, then release the button on the mouse.

To remove a device from the group, click on a device in the device box. Whole holding down the button on the mouse, drag the name of the device outside of the device box, then release the button on the mouse.

4. Email Alerts - When clicked, this button will display the following options:

Enable Email Alerts - By selecting this option, the user will receive an email alert if the IP Monitor Software hasn’t heard from a selected group of clocks in a certain amount of time.

Configure Email Alerts - By selecting this option, the user is able to choose which email address the alerts are sent to, the address of the email server, and the amount of time between an event and the email being sent. Once the information is filled in, click the save button. When pressed, this will save all of the settings that were entered.

Send Test Email - By selecting this option, the user is able to send a test email to the email address specified in the Configure Email Alerts option

5. Databases - When clicked, this button will display the following options: Download Configuration - By selecting this option, the user can load an IP clock’s setting from a PC to another IP clock.

Upload Configuration - By selecting this option, the user can upload the settings from an IP clock and save them to a PC.

* Matches any sequence of 0 or more characters in the name

? Matches any single character in the name

[chars] Matches any character in the set given by chars. If a sequence of the form x-y appears in chars, then any character between x and y, inclusive, will match.

{[A-Za-z]} Will match any alphabetical character.

\x Matches the single character x. This provides a way of avoiding the special interpretation of the characters

*?[]\ in pattern.

3. Filters - When clicked, this button will display the following options: Filter By Clock Type - By selecting this option, the user is able to view specific clock types on the Monitor Screen. The clock types users can

filter through are: Master Clocks, Network Repeaters, IP Analog, and/or IP Digital clocks. When the box next to the clock type is checked, the user will be able to view that clock type on the Monitor Screen.

Filter By Name - By selecting this option, the user is able to search for specific clocks by name on the Monitor Screen. The user must type in the name of a clock and check the box next to the word Enable. Once checked, the clocks that match the name will appear.

Please Note: When using this option, the submitted name must be identical to the name of the clock in order to receive a match. There are a few

special sequences/characters listed below that may be used when filtering by name:

7. Version - When clicked, this button will display version number information of the IP Monitor Software and the Software Version Number (SVN). This information is needed only when contacting Sapling technical support and will not affect your usage of the IP Monitor Software.

*Examples are listed in the Appendix on page 29.

6.Save to File - When clicked, allows the user to save the all of the information in the IP monitor device list as a .CSV file, which can be printed from Microsoft Excel. If the monitor is showing devices from a specific Group, then the .CSV file will contain only the devices in that group.

1. Monitor Screen - Displays all the clocks that are active in the system. The monitor screen displays the name of the clock, serial number, type of clock, IP address, last updated time, how long the clock has been running, and the status of the clock.

2. Quick Access Menu - To access this menu, click the right mouse button while your cursor is on the selected clock. A list of options are shown and explained below.

3. Remove from Display - When clicked, this option will remove the selected clock from the Monitor screen.

4. Clear Selections - This option will deselect any highlighted items on the Monitor Screen.

5. Mark as Priority - Marking a clock(s) as priority is another filtering option for a user to segment the clocks. Once a clock is marked as priority, there will be an asterisk (*) next to the chosen clock. See option 15 on page 17 for directions on how to filter the priority clocks on the monitor screen.

6. Send Message to Clocks - This option is not available with IP analog clocks.

7. Send Countdown to Clocks - This option is not available with IP analog clocks.

8. Send Looping Message to Clocks - This option is not available with IP analog clocks.

9. Send Numeric Message to Clocks - This option is not available with IP analog clocks.

10. Download Configuration to Clock - By selecting this option, the user can load an IP clock’s setting from a PC to another IP clock.

11. Upload and Save Configuration - By selecting this option, the user can upload the settings from an IP clock and save them to a PC.

1. Characters are Red - When the characters of a clock have turned red, this means that the clock has not sent its status within the last 10 minutes.

2. Characters are Gray - When the characters of a clock have turned gray, this means that the clock was once displayed on the IP Monitor, but upon launching the IP Monitor program this most recent time, the clock cannot be found on the network.

3. Characters are Black - When the characters of a clock are black, this means that the clock is working normally.

4. “Unknown” MAC Address - An IP device with older software will report its MAC address as “Unknown”. This is a result of the data sent by the older software in the device. It does not indicate an error with the clock.

1. Display Format - This option sets the clock’s time display to either 12 hour mode or 24 hour mode.

2. Date Format - This option sets the clock’s date display format in either MM:DD:YY mode or DD:MM:YY mode.

3. Brightness - This option sets the clock’s brightness display. There are four settings: Low, Medium, High, or OFF.

4. Brightness Schedule - This option allows the user to schedule the day and time that the IP clock’s display should be at high, medium or low brightness, or be completely powered off. (See page 22 for further instructions).

5. Seconds Time Displayed - This option sets the duration for how long the time is displayed. If the duration is set to 0, the time will not be shown.

6. Seconds Date Displayed - This option sets the duration for how long the date is displayed. If the duration is set to 0, the date will not be shown.

7. Seconds Temperature Displayed - This option sets the duration for how long the temperature is displayed. If the duration is set to 0, the temperature will not be shown. This option only appears if a temperature sensor is installed on the clock. (3200/3300 Models Only)

8. Display Temperature In - This option sets the clock’s temperature display to either Fahrenheit or Celsius. This option only appears if a temperature sensor is installed on the clock. (3200/3300 Models Only)

9. Submit - This button, when pressed, saves all of the settings that were entered.

10. Cancel - This button, when pressed, clears all of the settings that were changed.

11. Alternate HRS:MIN / MIN:SECS - This option allows the user to set the clock to alternate from an hours and minutes display (HR:MM) to a minute and seconds display (MM:SECS). Must be set to ON to modify the values for the next two settings.

12. Seconds Minutes and Seconds (MN:SC) displayed - This option allows the user to set the duration for how long the minutes and seconds are displayed on the clock. Alternate HRS:MIN/MIN:SECS must be set to ON to modify.

1. User Password - This field allows the user to enter a password for the user level programming. The password must be entered once in the User Password field and once in the Confirm Password field in order to be changed. The default is 1111. Users may view all tabs, but cannot change settings.

2. Technician Password - This field allows the user to enter a password for the technician level programming. The password must be entered once in the Technician Password field and once in the Confirm Technician Password field in order to be changed. The default is 6063. Technicians may change any setting.

3. Clock Name - This field allows the user set a unique name for the clock, such as its location. The clock name cannot exceed 20 characters.

4. Clock Number - This read-only option displays the unique serial number for the clock.

5. Network Sync Every - This setting allows the user to choose how often the clock attempts to synchronize with the network.

6. Bias Seconds- This setting allows the user to offset the synchronized time. The range is +/- 18,000 seconds (5 hours). The clock may be configured to function as part of a Zone Clock through this option.

7. GMT Offset - This setting allows the GMT offset to be configured for time zones +/- 12 hours.

8. Submit- This button, when pressed, saves all of the settings that were entered.

1. Gateway IP Address - This field allows for the gateway IP address to be set.

2. Subnet Mask - This field allows for the subnet mask to be set.

4. IP Address - This field will display the IP address that was given by the DHCP server. If DHCP is disabled, then the user will be able to set a static IP address. *See note below.

Web Interface - Setting Up the Elapsed Timer Interface (3200/3300 Versions Only)

1. Type the IP address of the IP clock into a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. This will load the IP clock’s web interface. Type in the password for the IP clock.

2. Once the Elapsed Timer is connected to the back of the digital IP clock (see the Elapsed Timer manual for more information), press any button on the Elapsed Timer.

3. Refresh the web interface page. The Elapsed Timer tab will appear in the menu bar. After this step is done once, the IP clock will always recognize the Elapsed Timer.

Web Interface - Configuring the Elapsed Timer Buttons (3200/3300 Versions Only)

*The Elapsed Timer tab will only appear on the task bar when the Elapsed Timer is plugged into the back of the IP digital clock.

1. No Action - Pressing this button will perform no functions on the IP clock.

2. Return to Time Display - Pressing this button will cause the IP clock to return to its previously displayed time.

3. Briefly Display Date - Pressing this button will cause the IP clock to briefly show a date display.

4. Go to Count Up and Hold - Pressing this button will cause the IP clock to display and hold at zero.

5. Go to Count Up and Start - Pressing this button will cause the IP clock to switch from its current display and begin the counting up process beginning from zero.

Push Buttons

This option allows the user to view the clock’s IP address. Press both push buttons at the same time and the IP clock will scroll its IP address across the display.

Selecting Count Up Option

Begin Count Up Function - This option allows the user to initiate when the clock will start counting up from zero. Press the bottom button to enable the Count Up Function or press the top button to move on to the next option.

Pause Count Up Function - This option allows the user to pause the Count Up Function when the Count Up Function is enabled. Press the bottom button to enable the Pause Count Up Function or press the top button to move on to the next option.

Resume Count Up Function - This option allows the user to resume the Count Up Function when the Count Up Function has been paused. Press the bottom button to enable the Resume Count Up Function or press the bottom button to exit to the clock’s normal time display.

Set Manual Hour-Minute-Second Deviation

*To set the clock’s time display with push buttons, the user must first change the “Network Sync” options in “Clock Settings” on the Web Interface to “Never” sync.

Set Hour - To set the hour on the IP clock, press the top button and the hour selection will appear (HR). Using the top button scroll through numbers 01-23. After the selection is made, press the bottom button to move on to set the minute.

Set Minute - To set the minute press the bottom button after making the hour selection and the minute selection will appear (MM). Using the top button scroll through numbers 01-59. After the selection is made, press the bottom button to move on to the set second.

Set Second - To set the second press the bottom button after making the minute selection and the second selection will appear (SC). Using the top button scroll through numbers 01-59. After the selection is made, press the bottom button to move on to the next option.

Save Settings - To save the time settings that were chosen, press the bottom button after the second is selected and the “save settings” option will appear (SET). Press the top button to save the settings and then press the bottom button to move on to the next option or just press the bottom button to not save and move on to the next option.

Clear Settings - To clear the time settings that were chosen, press the bottom button after “saving settings” are selected and the “clear option” will appear (CLR). Press the top button to clear all hour, minute, and second settings. After this selection, the clock will return to it’s normal time display.

Reading the Display

The digital clock is designed to display time in either a 12-hour or 24-hour format. When the display is set to the 12-hour format, a circular light will appear in the top left corner of the display to indicate PM, or disappear to indicate AM. When the display is set to the 24 hour format, the full 24-hour time will appear on the display; no other lights should appear.

Some examples:

How are IP clocks controlled?IP clocks are independent and receive their time from a NTP/(S)NTP server.

If a setting is adjusted using the Monitor program, does it effect only the selected clock or the entire system?The IP clock series has the capability to allow the user to adjust the settings to an individual clock or apply those settings to the entire system.

How many PoE injectors do I need?Each clock needs an PoE injector. However, there are many multi-port PoE switches/routers that are available.

Troubleshooting

What do I do if I cannot connect to the web interface?Verify that the IP address your attempting to access is correct. If the IP address is correct, verify that there aren’t any provisions in the firewall preventing you from accessing it. If all else fails, try connecting via a cross-over cable (See page 13).

The clock isn’t keeping time. What should I do?Make sure that the NTP/(S)NTP server addresses that were programmed are functioning. Also, make sure that the clock is communicating within the network and has outside access to a time server.

The clock is not powering up. What should I do?Make sure that the power injector is plugged in. If it is, ensure that the output is going to the clock and the input is going to the router/switch.

*IP matches any clock name that starts with “IP”

[AR]* matches any clock name that starts with “A” or “R”

*t* matches any clock name with a lower case ‘t’

[A-Z]* matches any clock name that starts with a capital letter

*[0-9] matches any clock name that ends with a number

A??b*c matches any clock name where the first character is ‘A’, the fourth is ‘b’, and ends in a ‘c’
