Inspired by the beautiful simplicity of a triangle, Terzetto will quickly

become a staple in your winter wardrobe. The crafty use of knit and

Inspired by the beautiful simplicity of a triangle, this

beanie will quickly become a winter staple in your

wardrobe. The crafty use of knit and purl stitches to

create triangles is remarkably simple. Pattern repeats

can be easily added to change the size for

larger/smaller heads or for a different gauge.

YARN: Approximately 175 yards worsted weight

NEEDLES: 4mm (US 6) 16" circular, 5mm (US 8) 16"

circular, 5mm DPN

NOTIONS: stitch marker & tapestry needle

SIZE: Average Adult head (up to 24")

DIMENSIONS: un-stretched 15” width, 8” height

GAUGE: 5 sts and 6 rows = 1” using larger needle

ABBREVIATIONS:

k- knit

p- purl

tbl- through the back loop

K2tog: knit two together

Twisted rib pattern:

*P1, K1 tbl* repeat from * to * around.

Triangle Pattern:

Round 1: *P1, K5* repeat from * to * around.

Round 2: *P2, K4* repeat from * to * around.

Round 3: *P3, K3* repeat from * to * around.

Round 4: *P4, K2* repeat from * to * around.

Round 5: *P5, K1* repeat from * to * around.

Round 6: Same as Round 5.

Round 7: Same as Round 4.

Round 8: Same as Round 3.

Round 9: Same as Round 2.

Round 10: Same as Round 1.

HAT PATTERN:

Using smaller needle, cast on 90 (or other multiple of

6). Place marker and join into round, being careful not

to twist stitches.

Knit the twisted rib pattern for 7 rounds.

With larger needle, start the Triangle Pattern and

complete 3 full repeats of it.

Knit rounds 1-5 of the Triangle Pattern.

DECREASING:

Round 6: *P4, K2tog* repeat from * to * around. (75)

Round 7: *P3, K2* repeat from * to * around. (75)

Round 8: *P2, K2tog, K1* repeat from * to * around.

Round 9: *P1, K3* repeat from * to * around. (60)

Switch to double-pointed needles through next

round.

Round 10: *P1, K2tog, K1* repeat from * to * around.

(45)

Round 11: Knit. repeat from * to * around. (45)

Round 12: *K2tog, K1* repeat from * to * around.

(30)

Round 13: Knit. repeat from * to * around. (30)

Round 14: *K2tog* repeat from * to * around. (15)

Cut yarn leaving a long tail. Thread tail through live

stitches twice and weave in ends.

Block if desired.

CUSTOMIZATIONS:

This pattern should yield a fitted beanie. If you are

interested in a slouchier fit, you can add a pattern

repeat, or two, to make it longer. Make sure to end

on Round 5 of the Triangle Pattern before starting

the decreases. If the pattern is too snug around your

head, CO a larger # of stitches in a multiple of 6. If you
