INSPIRE Scholarship By Department of Science & Technology

INSPIRE SCHOLARSHIP also known as Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) is an effort of Department of Science and Technology to encourage more and more students to undertake Science as a field of study and go for Bachelors and Master courses in Natural & Basic Sciences. Every year 10000 scholarships are offered to students undertaking Bachelor and Masters level education in the Natural & Basic sciences.

Under the scholarship student can pursue any one of the following programs in in Natural/Basic sciences from any UGC recognized Institution located in India:

3 years B.Sc., B.Sc. (Hons) 4 years B.S 5 years integrated M.Sc./M.S programs

Interested candidates can make online application for the scholarship as per the schedule announced by the related authorities. Let us have a look at the eligibility and other details of Inspire Fellowship:

Eligibility: o Age: The candidate must be older than 17 years but younger than 22

years at the time of making application for the scholarship.o Academic Qualification: The Student must have cleared class 12 or

equivalent examination from Central or State board.o Academic Status in Board Exams: The student must have been among

the top 1% in Class 12 at their respective board examination in order to apply for the scholarship.

OR

o National Level Competitive Examination: Students who have secured their ranks amongst the top 10,000 students in National Level Competitive Examinations such as JEE Main, JEE Advance or AIPMT.

OR

o Students admitted in following Institutes: Those students who have secured admission in any of the following institutes: National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER), Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Basic Sciences (DAE-CBS) at the University of Mumbai.

OR

o All National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY), Jagadish Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS) scholars and Science Olympiad Medalists.

Rewards:

o Number of Scholarships:o Cash Reward: As a reward of the Scholarship, students get annual

scholarship of Rs. 80000. Out of which Rs.60000 are paid as annual scholarship amount and Rs. 20000 are paid as summer time attachment fee.

o Duration of the Scholarship: The scholarship is offered for a maximum period of 5 years.

Renewal of the Scholarship: The Scholarship need to be renewed every year and the renewal of the scholarship is done on the basis of the performance of the candidate in the academic result of the candidate in his College/University examinations.

Eligible Courses: Applicants can undergo Undergraduate or Postgraduate courses in any of the below mentioned programmes:

o Physicso Chemistryo Mathematicso Biologyo Statistics o Geologyo Astrophysicso Astronomyo Electronicso Botanyo Zoologyo Biochemistryo Anthropologyo Microbiologyo Geophysicso Geochemistryo Atmospheric Sciences o Oceanic Sciences.
