IMAP synchronizes the actions you take in Outlook with Google Mail so if you read or delete a message in the client, it will be marked as such in the Google Mail interface. These instructions are intended for users that already have an active CWRU Google Mail account and want to set up the Outlook email client for the first time. Procedure Step Action 1. 2. The Google Mail inbox window will open. Click the Settings icon (resembling a gear) in the top right corner of the window.
3. Select the Settings menu option.

4. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP menu option.
5. Click the Disable POP radio button to select it.
6. Click the Enable IMAP radio button to select it.

7. Scroll to the bottom of the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings window and then click the Save Changes button. Then, sign out of the Google Mail web interface.

8. Click on the desktop to make the Finder menu bar visible.
9. Click the Go menu and select Applications.

14. Enter your CWRU email address into the E-mail address field. Upon recognizing your case.edu domain, the Outlook client will expand the window and allow you to enter your account settings manually.

15. Enter your Google Apps password in the Password field.
16. Enter the CWRU Network ID version of your email address ([email protected]) in the User name field.
17. Select IMAP from the drop down list in the Type field.
18. Enter “imap.gmail.com” in the Incoming server field.
19. Click the check boxes next to Override default port and Use SSL to connect.

20. Enter “993” in the numeric field next to the Incoming server field.
21. Enter “smtp.cwru.edu” in the Outgoing server field.
22. Click the checkbox next to Use SSL to connect.
23. Click the Add Account button.

24. Enter “CWRU Google Mail” in the Account description on the Accounts window that appears.
25. Click the More Options... button.
