MichaelProettel and his bar team offer international drinks,refined cocktails and fine spirits to live music – frommalt whisky or an elegant rum to excellent locallymade fruit brandies. They would also gladly recom-mend an aperitif or digestif.

The Hotel TerraceInviting for breakfast or the evening menu, tea, coffeeor an aperitif in the open air. There is also live musichere occasionally.

The ”Sattelei” Hiking CabinThe ”Sattelei” is a beautiful walking destination fora relaxed stop for snacks. Regional specialities areserved here daily from 11.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. andfrom 11.00 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. on Sundays. Whethersavoury tarte flambée or sausage salad, sweet applestrudel or Black Forest gateau – the quality is excellentand the cellar well appointed. You can reach the cabin,in a romantic forest clearing, on foot in about three-quarters of an hour.

The Morlokhof Hike andMorlokhof Evening

Every Thursday there is a special evening at theMorlokhof, located high on a hill – when the historyof this homestead, which is over 220 years old andshrouded in legend, comes alive. Renovation took wellover three years, recreating the ensemble of buildingstrue to the original. As an invited guest you will bedriven here directly from the hotel and can experiencean entertaining and exciting encounter. For here youwill meet the ”old Morlok” who, like his ancestors,lived as a farmer and carried out faith healings. Theyhealed illnesses through the laying-on of hands orusing home-made tinctures and compounds. The ”oldMorlok” will tell stories in his own vivid style; togetheryou will tour the farm, learning about this or thatcuriosity and, finally, enjoy an evening together in thelounge with a cosy rustic meal consisting of traditionalregional dishes – appropriate for the surroundings –whose recipes have been carefully adapted for today’stastes. The menu will be accompanied by appropriatewines. Prices and details on this event are availablefrom the Reservations Department.

The Restaurant BareissOur gourmet restaurant is one of Europe’s best epi-cure addresses. Here, Chef de Cuisine Claus-PeterLumpp celebrates that which raises pleasure to anincomparable experience for the senses. What makesthe difference between the two is the tangible passionand consistent signature that he has always culti-vated. This has been rewarded with three stars in theGuide Michelin, the international Eckart WitzigmannPrize 2011, and the unchanging enthusiasm of ourguests. With Restaurant Manager Thomas Brandt and

Sommelier Jürgen Fendt, top-class experts in theirsubjects are ready to assist you, as the entire team ischaracterised by their personal format.

The Restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, aswell as from 3 February to 28 February 2013 (inclu-sive) and from 28 July to 29 August 2013 (inclusive).

Chef de Cuisine Wilhelm Himmler and his team ensurethat a daily changing selection of popular delicaciesfrom sophisticated European cuisine are on the menuat the Kaminstube. Every evening, and on weekendsand holidays in the afternoon, they are ideally accom-

panied by exquisite Baden, Wurttemberg and interna-tional vintages from leading vintners. The crackle ofthe fire in the background provides atmosphere andis, like the wonderful view from the terrace, anotherexcellent reason to linger.

The Uhrenstube and the Förster-Jakob-Stube providethe perfect backdrop for taking one’s time savouringtheir pleasures. The embodiment of cosiness becomesreality in the realm of the Dorfstuben landlady IngridJedlitschka and her team. Hot and cold Black Forestspecialities are traditionally prepared and served with

affection in the two original farmer’s lounges fromthe 19th century. Bread baked in a wood-fired oven,homemade sausage and ham for a snack, oven-roastedduck or blue trout are always delicious. Accompaniedby local draught beer, wine or spirits. Open daily, frombefore lunch to a convivial conclusion to the evening.

The Children’s Village,Adventure Playground and the

Bareiss Lakota RanchChildren‘s dreams come true at the Villa Kunterbunt,close to the hotel: 3- to 6-year-olds can live out theirfantasies to the full here and give free rein to theirenergies under experienced supervision – whilst learn-ing a lot. Storytellers kindle the magic of the mysteri-ous in the Fairy Tale Room. The tree house and brightcircus wagon are reminiscent of Pippi Longstocking.The rabbit petting zoo gives children experience upclose. They can run riot, excellently, in the Forest Parkwith its Adventure Playground, be a buccaneer in thesunken pirate ship, and a cowboy or Native Americanat the Lakota Ranch and around the camp fire. Bak-ing and cooking is carried out together at the 7-StarRestaurant, meals are eaten together and the cookingcourses provide wonderful experience. Not to mentionthe variety of playing areas, modelling and paintingcorners, paddling pools and sand castle constructionareas.

Cuisine for childrenOur Chefs de Cuisine cook daily especially for ouryoung guests – both lunch and the evening meal –healthy, delicious and highly varied. A special Chil-dren’s Menu at the Villa Sternenstaub and duringholiday periods allows everyone to eat together withinthe framework of the Children and Youth Programme.Parents can eat with the children at the hotel restau-rants from as early as 6.00 p.m. In summer there arebarbecues on the campfire next to our tepee and at theSaloon in the Lakota Ranch. The Villa Sternenstaub’ssmall fruit and vegetable garden is new and offers thechance to plant and harvest together, prepare the foodin lively company, and enjoy eating the creations atthe table.

MINISWith the Minis, aged from 3 to 6, we explore the bare-foot park or the flora and fauna of the meadow, buildwith Lego, watch the wild animals being fed or visit theAdventure Playground.

MAXISFor our Maxis, aged between 7 and 11, we offer theChildren’s Etiquette Course, forest discovery tours,visits to a horse ranch, Twister and other games onour tennis court.

TEENIESFour our Teenies, from 12 onwards, there are excur-sions to Europa Park, go-carting, pool and dartstournaments, DVD evenings, visits to the PanoramaAdventure Pool or the natural pool in Mitteltal, cinema,or pony riding. A network of about 550 km of winding pathsand quiet forest trails offers breath-taking views. Theindividual districts actively participate in the conceptwith themed paths, informing hikers about the region’shistory and geology.

The Bareiss Hunt is located in the northern Black For-est red deer territory – on the Murg side immediatelyopposite the hotel. You can reach the raised hides viawell-prepared paths at altitudes of between 600 and900 metres. Please ask for our hunt brochure fordetailed information and prices.

Angling and fly fishingThe River Murg, with abundant fish, and the hotel’s ownfishing ground on the Ellbach offer many beautiful loca-tions for trout fishing. The Reception staff can provideyou with details and tell you what equipment you canborrow from us. Please ask for our angling guidelines.

Cross-country skiingand winter fun

In addition to the 11 cross-country skiing trails in theBaiersbronn district – from Mutterort to the BlackForest Pass – the wonderful Besenfeld plateau offersbeautiful cross-country trails. Curling on the hotel’sown alleys and snowshoe hikes are further possibilities.

Improve your technique and enjoy the tradition-steeped Freudenstadt golf course! Training takesplace in two sessions with head and apprenticeprofessionals from the Golf School.
