Backed by the only officially recognised BMW Car Club in the UK, BMW Car Club Racing burst onto the club racing landscape in 2018, before progressing to championship status a year later. With classes to cater for four-cylinder, six-cylinder, two levels of M-power and one-make ‘BMW Cup’ cars, the formula attracted huge grids from the outset, and continues into 2020 with a capacity entry for the first rounds of the season here at Brands Hatch. With neither 2019 overall champion Matt Page in attendance, nor Class 6 champion Darren Ball, the door has been left open for drivers old and new to make a head start in the 2020 points. Last year’s M1 Class champion Mike Cutt is always one to watch in his E36 M3, and whilst he will no doubt be joined upfront by 2019 sparring partner Rick Kerry (M140i), various 2020 newcomers include multiple former BMW champion Garrie Whittaker, making his BMWCCR debut this weekend. Defending M2 Class champion Graham Crowhurst (E46 M3) will also see new competition this season, as will returning 2019 Class 6 protagonist Kevin Denwood in his well-developed E46 325ti.The Heritage Parts Centre Formula Vee Championship will also showcase a full grid of the evergreen VW-based single-seaters, and after the opening two rounds at Snetterton last month it was James Harridge who came away on top of the points having finally put his string of back luck behind him, taking two wins in his self-developed Maverick machine. Formula stalwart Ian Buxton (GAC/Daghorn) lies second in the points after following him home in both outings, whilst Maurice Gloster (GAC) took to the third step twice in a Vee weekend that saw very rare identical podiums.Having sold up in order to take a year off at the end of 2019, habitual frontrunner Martin West managed to sit out precisely zero weekends from the eternally popular Demon Tweeks | Yokohama Locost Championship; the Fareham-based driver instead spending lockdown building himself a new car. He’ll be glad he did; a second, third

and fourth at Snetterton sees him head up the standings coming in to this weekend. Murray Shepherd, Craig Land, defending champion Tom Gadd and first-time winner Geoff Peek sit close behind and will be looking to make amends in this weekend’s capacity-filling grids.

A new name graced the top step of the retro Demon Tweeks | Yokohama Classic Stock Hatch podium at Snetterton; with oval racing ace Ryan Morgan borrowing veteran Stock Hatch racer dad Pete’s Fiesta XR2 to follow up a fourth place in the opener with a win in the second outing. Multiple former and defending champion Lee Scott (XR2i) was still undecided last month about pursuing a full season campaign, but arrives at his local circuit this weekend heading up the points ahead of Morgan, plus the Vauxhall Nova, Citroen AX and Peugeot 205 GTi of Pip Hammond, Andrew Thorpe and Martin Rodgers.

Ryan Polley set a 2020 campaign well into action at his local Snetterton circuit in the K-Tec Racing Clio 182 Championship; the defending champion taking both wins for maximum points in this shortened season. Behind, the ever-improving Scott Edgar lies second after a successful opener, ahead of newcomer Simon Freeman and a return to frontrunning pace for Nick Garner after two years out.Finally, the TEGIWA Type-R Trophy returns to Brands Hatch after its 2019 launch, featuring burgeoning numbers attracted to the low build cost for this one-make hot hatch formula. Dan Thackeray has taken the most wins to date and may well be favourite, however consistent frontrunners Jon Peerless, Dan Chapman and Jack Thomas return after Snetterton success. Watch also for the debut of former Clio 182 and Stock Hatch protagonist Matt Digby.

Locost racing is one of the UK’s most successful forms of club motorsport, with grids regularly exceeding 40 cars year-in, year-out with ultra-close slip-streaming race action. All are built to the same Ron Champion ‘Build Your Own Sports Car’ book design, using a 1.3-litre Ford engine with control camshaft and modifications limited to a re-bore and basic ‘blue-printing’. Yokohama A539 control tyres are extremely affordable and easily last a whole season of competition.

It is a condition of admission that all persons having any connection with the promotion and/or organisation and/or conduct of the meeting, including the owners of the land and the drivers and owners of the vehicles, are absolved from all liability arising out of accidents, howsoever caused, resulting in damage and/or personal injury to spectators, pass and ticket holders, or to their goods and vehicles.

PROGRAMME & COPYRIGHTThe promoters reserve the right to amend or cancel the meeting without notice or refund. All literary matter in this programme, including the list of competitors and their racing numbers, is copyright, and any person found making illegal use thereof will be prosecuted. Although every effort is made to avoid inaccuracies in the descriptions of competing cars, the Club accepts no responsibility for any errors that may occur. It is a condition of admission to these premises that photography, cine-film, video, sound or any other visual or audio use, including making copies of the recording or reproduction, causing or permitting it to be seen or heard in public, broadcasting, diffusing, selling, renting, exchanging, lending, using for gain, or otherwise dealing with it in whole or in part is strictly forbidden. Use of privately owned camcorders for private viewing purposes only is not permitted by the circuit owners without prior permission. Furthermore, the Promoters reserve the right to confiscate and retain possession of any photographs or films made in breach of this condition, and without its express consent in writing.

SPECTATOR NOTICESPlease do not leave litter about the grounds - take it with you. Remember to drive with care and caution when leaving the grounds. To safeguard both competitors and public ANIMALS ARE NOT ADMITTED. This is most important.

PROHIBITED AREA NOTICESThe public are not admitted to the areas where these notices are displayed. The fences are there for protection and any person caught trespassing or wilfully damaging trees, fences etc., will be prosecuted by the Promoters.

The Promoters reserve the right, without notice, to make any alterations in the race programme.

ENQUIRY OFFICEAll enquiries relating to property lost or found, children lost or found wandering, theft from cars or other signs of tampering, emergency messages for spectators, and any other serious problems relating to persons or property, should be directed to the Circuit Office.

Despite the organisers taking all reasonable precautions unavoidable accidents can happen.

In respect of these you are present at your own risk.

WHITEService vehicle or very slow car on circuit.

YELLOW(WAVED)Danger, slow down sufficiently to ensure that full control of the vehicle can be retained. No overtaking.

YELLOW(DOUBLEWAVED)Great danger. Slow down considerably. Be prepared to suddenly change from the projected racing line, or take other evasive action including stopping if necessary. No overtaking.

YELLOW/RED.STRIPESSlippery surface ahead.

GREENAll clear, at the end of a danger area controlled by yellow flags. Also used to signal the start of a formation lap.

REDSTOP RACING, proceed slowly to pits or startline as instructed by Marshals (at startline & individual Marshal’s posts). Race Stopped.

BLACK/ORANGE.DISCWarning of mechanical failure which might not be obvious to driver; call into pits immediately.

BLACK/WHITE DIAGONALWarning to driver that his behaviour (e.g corner cutting) is suspect and he may be black flagged.

BLACK Driver must call in immediately and report to the Clerk of Course.
