Panera has announced that it is rethinking the traditional approach to kids’ meals – ditching “cute, toy-shapedprocessed food” and opting instead for a menu free of artificial flavors, preservatives, sweeteners, and colors. Themove, which is part of the company’s broader attempt at reformulating existing recipes, is paying dividends with a4.2% increase in comparable store sales in the most recent quarter.

PANERA COMES OUT SWINGING AGAINST HAPPY MEAL-STYLE KIDS’ FOOD

Across the U.S., grocery prices have fallen for eight straight months, posting a 1.6% decrease year-over-year. Thereason: a major surplus of foods ranging from ground beef to milk as exports taper on the heels of a strengthening U.S.Dollar.
