Photo #1

1. The people in this photograph appear to be German kids saluting Hitler and the Nazis.

2. The kids are riding their bikes most likely to or from school considering their backpacks.

3. The photographer was conveying how influential Hitler and the Nazi Party were.

4. This photograph is important to history because it shows how popular Hitler became in

the area before and in some cases after the Holocaust.

5. It raises the question “where are these children?” and “when was this taken?”

6. “Children supporting Hitler on their ride to school.”

7. To find more information: search for this image online (Google), or see if it could be

found in a book about Nazi Germany during WWII era.

8. Three things inferred from this photo:

These kids are in Germany/are German

The boys are between ages 9-13

This is pre-Holocaust

1. The people in this photograph are soldiers.

2. They are enjoying themselves before they have to go and fight or work.

3. The photographer is trying to convey that these men are brothers, ready to fight for

each other and their country.

4. This photograph is important to history because it shows when the military was first

becoming diverse and integrated and how it wasn’t a problem between the men.

5. It raises the question “exactly which war was this?”

6. “Integrated soldiers enjoying the peace.”

7. Find information online about the uniforms and integration of the US army through

wars and other history books as well.

8. Three things I inferred:

These are mostly young men.

The army is no longer segregated.

These men are relaxed and pleasant.

1. The people in this photo are politicians or supporters of Prohibition in the early 1900s.

2. Men are pouring out alcohol in the streets to get rid of it as it has just been criminalized.

3. The photo portrays the feelings of different people when this law was put into effect.

Some men were unpleased as others were thrilled.

4. This photo is important in American history because this sparked a large era of

organized crime surrounding alcohol and eventually was overturned.

5. It raise the question “did these men know how valuable that alcohol is now that it was

illegal?” and “did they know by any chance it would spark the crime it did?”

6. “Prohibition is promoted by pouring out large jugs of alcohol.”

7. Search up “Prohibition in America 1920s” in the library databases or go to the Morrow

Library and find government documents about Prohibition

8. Three things inferred were:

The men pouring out the bottles are politicians.

Certain members of the crowd were displeased with the event.

This was taken outside of a bar.
