A Look at Life in Years 7 and 8 - next week

We look forward to having as many Yateley Manor children as possible in two weeks time a our Open Morning on Saturday, 14th October.

We are excited to be able to show prospective parents and children all that Yateley Manor has to offer.

A meeting entitled A Look at Life in Years 7 and 8 will take place on Tuesday 3rd October at 7.00pm.

The Year 7 and 8 programme at a prep school and especially, we believe, at YateleyManor, is one of the most powerful and influential experiences in a child’s educationand is an important part of their voyage of self-discovery.

The meeting will be led by Robert Upton but will also feature past Yateley Manor pupils, current Year 8s and parents of past senior pupils who will be able to give their perspective of our senior years. Topics covered will include the PSB programme, Yateley Manor Award Scheme, leadership and citizenship in Years 7 and 8.

The meeting is aimed particularly at parents of children in Years 4, 5 and 6 but is open to anyone and parents are very welcome to bring their children along too.

If you would like to attend this meeting please complete and submit the form using this link or email Penny Charles.

Our photographer will be with us on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th October to take children’s individual photographs. If you would also like your children taken in a sibling group please submit your request using this link or email Penny Charles by Monday, 2nd October.

A timetable for the photographs will be put up in Manor Court towards the end of next week.

Open Morning Saturday 14th October

Our whole school Harvest Festival Service will take place on Friday 13th October at 9.00am and we would be delighted to welcome parents to join us for this special celebration. As we need to know how many parents to expect for seating purposes, if you would like to attend please return the slip below to the School Reception by Friday 6th October. Seats will be allocated on a first come, first served basis with a maximum of 2 seats per family.

All donations of fruit, vegetables and store cupboard items will be very gratefully received. Pupils from Year 3 upwards should bring their donations to the Fyson Blum Hall on the morning of the service and Pre-Prep children should give them to their form teacher. All donations will be collected by representatives of the Surrey Heath Borough Council Community Services at the end of the service for distribution to sheltered housing and a day centre in the local community.

Photograph Reminder

Last week, peripatetic music teacher, Jim O’Neill gave an exciting demonstration of the electronic keyboard in the Years 1 - 4 assembly.

Jim explained the differences between learning the electronic keyboard and piano. The children did an amazing job naming the tunes that Mr O’Neill played for them.

If your child is interested in learning the electronic keyboard in individual lessons with Mr O’Neill, please ask in School Reception for an Instrumental Form

This Week’s Matches This was an incredibly busy week. The school fielded two basketball teams on Monday, a total of 16 football and hockey teams from Years 5 to 8 on Wednesday and a futher 11 football and hockey teams from Years 3 and 4 on Thursday. Every child from Year 3 upwards who wanted to play in a team was able to do so.

We hosted the annual Yateley Manor U11 hockey tournament to which eleven schools brought teams making it one of the biggest tournaments in the local area.

Not only was it a busy week but it was also a very successful week. The U11 girls had a fabulous week winning not only their own hockey tournament but also the U11 Godstowe netball tournament at the weekend. The girls hockey and boys football teams also had a great deal of success winning many of their fixtures.

Match reports on all our matches can be found by clicking here.
