FRESH PERSPECTIVESThis month, a collaboration between WNET and CNN expands CNN’s flagship program Amanpour to Amanpour and Company. The program will feature wide-ranging, in-depth conversations with global thought leaders and cultural influencers on the issues and trends impacting the world each day, from politics, business and technology to arts, science and sports. Christiane Amanpour leads the conversation on global and domestic news from London with contributions by prominent journalists Walter Isaacson, Michel Martin, Alicia Menendez and Hari Sreenivasan from the Tisch WNET Studios at Lincoln Center in New York City.
Christiane Amanpour has been at the forefront of international news reporting for more than three decades, delivering breaking news from war-torn Iraq, Afghanistan, Bosnia, and other conflict hotspots around the world.
W hat drives the Garden State’s green economy? NJTV travels to the Southern part of New Jersey with In Your Neighborhood: Vineland special.
NJTV has been showcasing some of the Garden State’s most dynamic places with its In Your Neighborhood initiative by combining news, special programming and community engagement events. For Vineland, along with local stories, the network will take an in-depth look into New Jersey’s agriculture, food and beverage industries.
“Vineland is a perfect location to showcase what makes New Jersey the Garden State,” said NJTV General Manager John Servidio. “The state’s vital agriculture and food-processing industry has been a foundation of our local economy for generations.”
Filmed at an area farm stand, the In Your Neighborhood: Vineland Special will feature interviews with local farmers, vineyard and supermarket owners and fishing boat captains to help demonstrate how food gets from farm, or sea, to table.
In Your Neighborhood stops also incorporate follow-up engagement events that touch on issues affecting the local community. For Vineland, NJTV will host residents, thought leaders and stakeholders to discuss how the opioid addiction crisis is affecting the area this fall.
“The response to this initiative from the communities we have visited to date has been tremendous,” said Servidio. “Residents are always asking us when we’ll be back.” Follow the NJTV In Your Neighborhood story online at njtvonline.org/inyourneighborhood and on social media #NJTVIYN.
Stay tuned for a future In Your Neighborhood broadcast planned for Princeton later this year.

The Wrecking Crew was a group of Los Angeles-based studio musicians from the 1960s who played on hits for the Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Sonny and Cher and more. The program explores how this core group of dedicated musicians brought the flair and musicianship that made the American “west coast sound” a dominant cultural force around the world.

A Place to Stand is the amazing true story of how Jimmy Santiago Baca — a man with seemingly no future — became a celebrated poet, novelist and screenwriter. Based on the memoir of the same name, the documentary takes viewers into Jimmy’s past and present, to uncover how the power of the written word lifted him from the violence and pain that had defined his early life.
