Palmer tried to stay under the radar at first, but has become a talkative andalways positive presence in our class. Palmer is always a team player, a hardworker, and our resident social butterfly. I nominate Willem as this month's Superstar Student in Foundations class.Willem has welcomed grade nine with a positive attitude. He is a team playerand a joker who strongly self regulates while still able to play jokes on hisfriends. Willem has a strong academic future if he keeps up his amazinghabits, and even stronger friendships with his peers. Great start to Grade 9,Willem!

A newcomer to Blyth, Megan consistently completes all of her assignmentson time and with the highest of academic integrity. Megan's curiosity andintellectual engagement has had an amazing impact on those around her. Students who were once shy and hesitant have been encouraged by Megan'senthusiasm and willingness to listen to them voice their opinions, askquestions and discuss important issues in our society such as race, equityand justice. Megan is a superstar student!

HAYDYN V. (Gr.7)Nominated by teacher Ms. Brittany Elik in Middle School

From the start of the year we have seen fantastic improvement in Haydyn'saccountability. Haydyn is more frequently raising his hand before he speaksand is respectful when listening to peers. He has improved on his self-advocacy skills. When he does not understand a concept or was absent fromclass he approaches his teachers to seek clarification or assistance. Haydynis always eager to participate and add to class discussion. His desire to getinvolved in extracurriculars such as Food Club and Sports Club is

exciting! Haydyn has and continues to be a positive contribution to the class and is extremelydeserving of being the Superstar Student for this month.

I try each month to nominate a student who has made superstar contributionsoutside of the classroom. This month I have chosen Kene. He started with usin Grade 11, but this year he has chosen to let us really get to know him.Don't let the photo fool you - this young man has the biggest smile oncampus, and is always willing to help a friend or teacher. His kindness, senseof humour and overall sense of community is making Blyth Whitby an evenbetter place on a daily basis. Thank you, Kene!
