CITATION
John L. McWhorter
On February 12, 1963, a Northwest Airlines, Inc., Boeing J20Bcrashed in a remote area of the Florida Everglades, 37 miles fromthe Miami International Airport.
The investigation of this accident was both dangerous anddifficult. Yet, despite the many difficulties and novel situationsthat were encountered, the personnel involved in the investigationof this aircraft accident and in the preparation of the reportpersevered to a successful conclusion.
The Aircraft Accident Investigation Report, released on June k,1965, is a result of the coordinated and dedicated efforts of thegroup assigned to this case. This report is one of the most complexand comprehensive ever prepared by the Board. It has received highpraise from many industry groups for its forward contributions toaviation.
It is with great pride that we commend you as a member ofthis group and award you a bound copy of the accident investigationreport adopted by the Board.
