Mrs Miller asked if I had been requested to conduct an audit of the new generation rolling stock and design issues, particularly with respect to the Disability Discrimination Act. What I said was correct as I was not aware of being asked to undertake an audit at the time. Since the hearing it has come to my attention that a member of the public wrote to my office in March 2017 with a request to conduct an audit into aspects of the operations of Queensland Rail and Department of Transport and Main Roads. This request referenced some potential transport issues including the new generation rolling stock (NGR) and disability non-compliance. My officers conducted further research into these issues and have considered them for future performance audits. As detailed in my Strategic Audit Plan, there is no plan to undertake a performance audit on this topic within the next 12 months. We reconsider our Strategic Audit Plan each year and will make a further assessment as the NGR project progresses. I have also advised the Honourable A Palaszczuk MP, Premier and Minister for the Arts of this matter. I provide you with some context to my answer to Mrs Miller's question at the estimates hearing (page 39 of the transcript).
